The Great Migration: How IT Training Moved From Live Workshops to Asynchronous Online Courses

Published: 11 September 2018 Publication History

Abstract

Due to changes in the technology training landscape, IT Training (part of University IT Services at Indiana University) needed to change their training model from classroom-led workshops to online, self-study courses in order to effectively meet learner needs. The process involved exploring how to convert and structure existing training content, finding ways to keep the content engaging, and determining how best to provide content to both IU and non-IU audiences. The process of migrating from in-person training to online content was not without its problems, but when the courses were released in their new format, learner reception was positive.
