MATLAB-Based Classification of Hypokalemia by Principal Component Analysis and k Nearest Neighbor

Published: 15 September 2020 Publication History

Abstract

Hypokalemia can be classified as mild, moderately severe, and severe hypokalemia wherein their serum level is 3.5mEq/L, 3.0mEq/L, and 2.5mEq/L, respectively. This condition tests the serum potassium level through blood extraction. This article presents another way of validation of the reference paper entitled "MATLAB-Based Classification of Hypokalemia by Principal Component Analysis Using Single Lead Electrocardiography (ECG)" without the involvement of actual patients by using ECG records with known hypokalemia and serum potassium levels being fed into the system. The purpose of this article to test the system from printed ECG waveform.
