Evaluating the Suitability of distinct Handheld Device setups for Augmented Reality Remote Maintenance: A user study

Published: 01 December 2022 Publication History

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) has been explored to assist scenarios of remote collaboration. Most studies use Handheld Devices to assist on-site members requiring help. However, the most suitable way to use such devices has not been examined, due to most efforts being put in the development of the technology itself. This work explored three distinct setups during a remote maintenance scenario with 10 participants: HHD; Support Mounted HHD; Wrist Mounted HHD. We report participants’ insights, suggesting the last represents the most adequate condition given the scenario context.
