Spatio-temporal variation of Per capita consumption expenditure residents and its influential factors in China based on a panel data model

Published: 15 December 2023 Publication History

Abstract

This paper takes 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China as examples, analyzes the current situation of the Per capita consumption expenditure residents (PCCER) in China, and establishes an econometric model for finding the key factors affecting PCCER. The present study has the following findings: firstly, the overall level of PCCER in China's coastal areas is high, while that in the western areas is low. Secondly, from 2009 to 2021, the PCCERs in all provinces and cities in China have been rising, especially in the central and western regions. Thirdly, PPCCER, industrial structure, and urbanization level had significant positive impacts on PCCER, while the Consumer price index had a negative impact.
