Abstract

File management includes the functions of file creation, file maintenance, data retrieval, sorting, and report preparation. These functions have been developed both individually and in combination. To meet the demand for these functions, many significant advancements have been made in both electronic data processing hardware and software. Obviously, areas for advanced technology still exist.
