Jan Stasieńko PhD, serves as a full professor and the Director of Research in the Department of Journalism and Communication, University of Lower Silesia. He also holds a position of the Head of the Centre for Games and Animation, ULS. In 2010/2011 and 2013/2014 he has served as a visiting fellow in SUNY Brockport Department of Communication (USA) and the Centre for Digital Media and Simon Fraser University, Vancouver (Canada). He is a member of Beyond Humanism Net and Polish Society for Film and Media Studies as well as Game Research Association of Poland. In his research he focuses on digital media and culture, cultural history of (new)media, posthumanism and media technologies, narrative structure of video games, educational contexts of gaming, animation history and anthropology, video games and CGI in the context of disabilities. He published several books: Media Technologies and Posthuman Intimacy (Bloomsbury Academic 2021), , Posthuman Studies Reader: Core readings on Transhumanism Posthumanism and Metahumanism (eds. with Evi Sampanikou, Schwabe 2021), Fragile Avatars?
