Yastimadhu (Glycchrhyza glabra Linn.) acts as galactogogue whereas Parusaka (Grewia asiatica Roxb.) supplements iron, calcium to women body which she needs at correspondent stage. Vivid analysis of this recommended diet pattern of Acharya Harita suggests that he has charted out this scheduled diet pattern in a chronological order i. e. liquid to solid diet in order to prevent any complication arise during pregnancy and to provide a milieu interior to the body of mother as well as baby for better adapting power with the changing physiological phenomenon. Findings of this review article may validate the scientific validation of views of Harita Samhita recommended diet and habit for pregnancy.

In... more Plants have been stayed as an an incredible source of medicines from the dawn of civilization. In today’s era, the whole world is emphasizing upon the evidence-based researches. Nighantus, Ayurvedic lexicons help enormously to know the meanings of cryptic names of medicinal plants. Danti (Baliospermum montanum Willd.), a well-known medicinal plant envisages to possess numerous medicinal properties like anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, purgative action. Efficacy of drug Danti is well depicted in all classical Nighantus (lexicons), a source of classical ayurvedic manuscript. However, a single hand information regarding Danti, its usages and references in all nighantus is not available. Hence, the present study highlights to gather all the evidences regarding the references of drug Danti from available various nighantus in systematic manner. The study reveals that total 78 synonyms were used to describe the properties of drug Danti. Among these synonyms, the most common synonyms attributed by all nighantukaras are chitra, nikumbha, chitraparni, udumbaraparni etc. It is also found that Danti has been indicated in 23 clinical conditions by all nighantukaras. Findings of this review may enrich to documentary research as well as act as an evidence-based information concerning Danti and its usages with reference to Ayurvedic Nighantus (lexicon).
