Improving QoS for TCP mixed different traffics using Asynchronous Transfer Mode – Available Bit Rate (ATM-ABR) service investigates by using a computer simulator. The proposed scheme has a similar complexity with the original scheme and most the related prior schemes were considered, but it gives a better performance, in terms of efficiency, fairness, queue length, number of sources, Initial Cell Rate (ICR) for different traffics, queue control function at the ABR switch and achievable utilization for the output link bandwidth.

It is well known that TCP has formed the backbone of the Internet stability and has been well tuned over years. Today the situation has changed, that is because the internetworking environment become more complex than ever, resulting in changes in TCP congestion control are produced and still in progress. In this paper we use an analytic fluid approach in order to analyze the different features of slow start, traditional swift start, and modified swift start algorithms. We then use simulations to confirm our analytic results which are promising enough.

In this paper, the performance characteristic of the proposed VP-Based ATM Ring network exclusive voice and data traffic is presented. A case study of a proposed method namely control mechanism method in order to achieve efficient and fairness among voice and data traffics in the ATM ring network. The main goal of the study is to estimate the effect of the load on the Mean Waiting Time (MWT) and Maximum Buffer Size (MBS). Then, find out the maximum load capacity that can be carried by the proposed network. The proposed control mechanism method fairly serviced both traffics on the network. The simulation and analytical results indicate that as the Offered Load (OL) increases, the MWT and Buffer Size (Bsiz) are also increase up to saturation limit. Beyond the saturation limit, MWT and Bsiz rapidly increase due to the large number of cells and queuing delay. The results confirm that the efficiently and simplicity of the proposed method promised enough.

It is well known that the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) congestion control has formed the backbone of the Internet stability and has well tuned over years. Today the situation has changed, that is because the internetworking environment become more complex than ever, resulting in changes in TCP congestion control are produced and still in progress without altering the fundamental underlying dynamics of TCP congestion control. This paper is an attempt to covers and compares the various aspects of congestion control algorithms which have been published and considered. It includes TCP congestion control motivation, architecture, algorithms, and performance.

This paper explores the parameters that affect the performance of FDDI at gigabit speed, a simple analytical model and simulation model have been used to analyze the performance of FDDI ring network at gigabit speeds. The performance metrics of maximum utilization, throughput, efficiency, maximum access delay, average token rotation time, average frame and queuing delay are considered. Both of these models have been presented and compared. The results show that the proposed simulator model is very closed to the analytical model, and there are several parameters have sensitive effects on the performance characteristics of FDDI network, such as Target Token Rotation Time (TTRT), frame length, FDDI fiber length, number of stations. The effects of these parameters have been considered on the study of the performance of FDDI network and obviously are promising enough.

A new switch-node architecture for data traffic for integrated services in a Local Area Network (LAN) is proposed. Specifically it has been designed to provide service to the following two broad types of traffic:1. Connectionless service for Interactive Data (ID) traffic.2. Connection-oriented service for Non-Interactive Data (NID) traffic. The topology of the switch-node is a bus. The key feature of the proposed scheme is the centralization, which has been exploited to provide the requisite flexibility for handling every class of traffic. The shared transmission medium is a short high speed bus which enjoys a fundamental advantage relative to distributed approaches in that the propagation delay along the length of the bus is smaller than the transmission time of a single bit. This feature can be exploited to provide simplicity and efficiency in accessing the transmission medium. The performance of the proposed media-access scheme and the centralized scheduling policy for interactive and non-interactive data traffics have been analyzed through simulation. The simulation study shows the actual efficiency of the switch-node, and proves that the proposed concurrent dual buses switch-node architecture with its centralized scheduling policy is a strong candidate to form the core of an efficient ISDN.
