Parents, educators, and environmental conditions have a considerable impact on children during this period. This study aims to examine parents' behaviors in the process of their children's gender socialization in terms of demographic variables. The study was conducted within the quantitative method and employed a survey pattern with 302 parents (223 mothers, 79 fathers) with children ages 0-8. Every participant in the sample was assumed to have completed the measurement tool appropriately. The study was limited to 3 months in the Famagusta and Nicosia districts. As a part of the study, Blakemore and Hill's Child Gender Socialization Scale was translated and adapted into Turkish and used as the data collection tool. The adaptation was achieved through four stages with the permission of the scale's owners. With the scale, a demographic information form prepared by researchers supplemented the data analysis. The Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to determine the changes according to independent variables in the main test scores. The findings of this study suggested that parents' behaviors toward gender socialization changed regarding their education status, age, and gender of children. Parents with higher education, 3-57 month-old children, and ones with a daughter tended to use gender socialization behaviors much more than any other group. With a mixed-method approach, gender socialization behaviors should be investigated in different educational contexts. Also, teachers' skills and their support for parents in gender socialization behaviors may be subjected to future research.

Action research design was used. The research was carried out in a public kindergarten affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and Culture in the Famagusta district of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The research lasted for 3 months. The working group of this study consisted of 17 preschool children aged four, two preschool teachers and 17 parents. Six different activities were applied, and the data were collected through reflective journals, teacher interviews and parent interviews. The data collected were then cross coded by the researcher and supervisor and analyzed using content analysis. The validity and reliability of the coding were calculated. Close examination and analysis of the findings revealed that the aim of raising awareness among teachers and parents about the pedagogical documentation method, had been achieved successfully. Moreover, the children’s learning had been made visible and children had successfully taken an active role in the learning processes. Therefore, it was concluded that the pedagogical documentation method clearly increased school-family interaction and that parents had access to detailed information about their children’s development and learning experiences. This study aimed to analyze how the images of children and play were reflected on impressionist painting in Europe in the 19th century. First, the works of impressionist painters were analyzed because they contain concrete and understandable images. According to the impressionist movement, the artist should give prominence to their personal interpretations and the emotions and the thoughts evoked by what they see instead of being objective and directly reflecting the reality. Children play in such a way. This qualitative study examined the images of children and play in 35 works of 10 impressionist painters within the context of the cultural play. Results indicated that, in the 35 paintings studied, children were depicted mostly in open, natural enviroments or social settings. Most of the children were depicted as girls of high socio-economical appearance and alone. Dolls, sensory toys, hoops, and animal toys were observed frequently. The most common type of play was symbolic. The findings suggest that arts also reflect the child play as a cultural value under the conditions of a certain period. This study traces the historical marks of children and play in art and offers insights for today’s early education.

In this study, the interactions of children during play and the contents of play in multicultural educational environments has been investigated in light of the Activity theory. The research has been conducted with 47 children of age groups 36-60 months in 2 official kindergartens of the Municipality of Munich in Germany. The research is a qualitative study conducted in phenomenological design. It has been found in the study that children turned artistic activities into play and frequently created scenarios reflecting daily life in pretending play. The children were observed to use singing and dancing as initiation rituals for play and the teachers were observed to be supporting of these rituals. The problems encountered during play were found to be mostly based on unwillingness to share and the children were observed to reach a solution by reaching out to the teachers for help or relenting.
