Preparation
editEuropium(II) telluride can be prepared by the reaction of europium and tellurium at 500–1000 °C.[3]
- Eu + Te → EuTe
The compound can also be prepared by reacting europium(II) hydride and tellurium in a stream of hydrogen at 600–850 °C:[3]
- EuH2 + Te → EuTe + H2
Properties
editEuropium(II) telluride is a black antiferromagnetic[4] solid[2] with a cubic crystal structure[1] of the NaCl-type.[5]
