Kirti, an aspiring writer and fan of a poet Malhar, decides to relocate to the senere hill station of Panchghati along with her son, Puru, to live with her uncle and aunt. Meanwhile, in Panchghati, Kirti's friend Anjali is romantically involved in a clandestine affair with Vikrant, a respected chemistry teacher in the entire town and the vice principal at Hilltop High School. When Anjali decides to take control in their relationship, Vikrant kills and buries her body with the help of Bittu, a local.

Concerned about Anjali's absence, Kirti heads to the police station to lodge a FIR. During this time, the police track Anjali's phone, which Vikrant discovers in possession of Puru. Vikrant takes the phone from Puru and tosses it into a truck bound for Karnataka. He then assures Kirti that he will help to locate Anjali. Vikrant takes Kirti with Puru on a school trip where Anjali's dead body is found. Kirti vows to find the culprit and Vikrant offers her help. Bittu trembles in fear after he spots his bracelet near the corpse. Neha's kleptomania leads her to steal the bracelet, but upon learning about this, Kirti returns the evidence to its original location along with Neha. Vikrant manages to manipulate police investigation and destroy evidences. However, Kirti deduces the killer is Anjali's secret boyfriend and makes progress in her investigation. Vikrant decides to kill Kirti as she might expose his deeds. Kirti takes an interview at Vikrant's school and secures a position as a librarian.

Vikrant speaks to a photo of his bestfriend, Rohit, where he mentions killing 11 other girls before Anjali. His psychopath attitude is more evident as he is shown to keep the photos of all his victims and also keeps a necklace made out of the hair of victims. Later, Ganesh, a carpenter, steals a gold chain from Vikrant's house. Vikrant kidnaps him and keeps him in Bittu's captivity. Ganesh learns the Vikrant's reality and decides to tell the police. He tricks Bittu and goes in the Aai Dongarjai's procession. Vikrant kills Ganesh in the religious march. Later, he skillfully misleads the cops and destroys any evidence of the murder. Kirti comes across a file in the school library detailing the murders of 12 girls, with Anjali's photo included. She reports this discovery to the police, leading to Shreyash being taken into custody. At the police station, Shreyash explains that he was making the report out of interest in forensics. Kirti and Vikrant intervene, securing Shreyash's release from jail. The police, recognizing Shreyash's skills, appoint him as an assistant to aid in solving the case. Shreyash puts forth his theory, suggesting that the incidents may be the work of a serial killer.

As Vikrant and Kirti grow closer, they find comfort in each other and Vikrant is touched by her selflessness that he falls in love with her. Opening up to Vikrant about her past, Kirti discloses that she left her abusive husband, Dev. Subsequently, Kirti successfully pieces together Bittu's connection with Anjali, leading to his arrest. However, Vikrant intervenes, rescues Bittu, and places him in captivity. Vikrant accompanies Kirti to buy furniture as she prepares to move into his home as tenant. Meanwhile, Mirajkar delves into the investigation surrounding Anjali's murder. His inquiry reveals that Anjali used to rendezvous with her boyfriend at a hotel, often taking Bittu's taxi. Mirajkar shares this crucial information with Kirti. Bittu plans to kill Vikrant out of fear. He tricks him to die, but the latter tries to outmaneuver Bittu by setting up a scheme to convince Bittu to save him. Kirti undertakes a heroic endeavor to pull Vikrant out of the waterlogging. Bittu learns of Mirajkar following him and hangs him to a tree. He misunderstands that Vikrant is dead and kidnaps Kirti. He tortures her. When Vikrant learns of this, he rescues Kirti from Bittu when they are found in a car accident. He subsequently puts suspicious items in a taxi to frame Bittu for the murders. Later, he arranges for a power cut in the hospital and disguises himself as a doctor and gets Bittu out of the hospital. Kirti scratches his neck when the former tries to run away. Mirajkar is saved by a local.

At the Ganpati Visarjan, Kirti confronts Vikrant about the scratches, accusing him of being the serial killer, but Vikrant fabricates a false story to divert her suspicions. Convinced by his explanation, Kirti apologizes for her accusations. However, Vikrant resorts to trapping Puru to dissuade Kirti from continuing her investigations. When Puru is eventually found, Kirti decides to leave Panchghati without informing anyone. Ritu, Vikrant's student and obsessive lover, recorded Vikrant kidnapping Puru. She goes to the bus stop to tell Kirti everything so she can have a chance with Vikrant. Vikrant persuades Kirti to stay by promising to protect her and Puru. At Kirti's birthday, Vikrant expresses his love and proposes to her. At school, Ritu decides to tell Kirti everything but is lashed out at for bad behaviour. Vikrant kills off Ritu as she tells him that Kirti will never be his. Vikrant clears all the evidences. Recognizing her feelings for Vikrant, Kirti enters a relationship with him. Dev is transferred to the Panchghati police station, reigniting his troubling behavior toward Kirti. This escalates tensions between Dev and Vikrant, turning them into enemies. Dev puts Kirti behind the bars for her finding her chain alongside Ritu. Employing a clever strategy, Vikrant manages to secure Kirti's release from police custody.

Delving into the cases, Dev discovers Vikrant's true nature but is unable to find concrete evidence. Vikrant releases Bittu but Dev manages to apprehend him. Vikrant disguises himself and poisons Bittu. Dev discovers Bittu dead while in police custody, leading to Dev's suspension from his services. Vikrant visits Kirti's home with a marriage proposal, and the Mores arrange for their wedding in two days. Meanwhile, Jhanvi, a student, confesses to Dev that she witnessed Vikrant taking Ritu in his car. Vikrant learns of this and kills Jhanvi. The blame is on Dev when Jhanvi's body is found in his car boot. He runs away from police and commits to prove Vikrant as a murderer with evidences. Anjali's murder case is closed.

Dev contemplates a desperate act to kill Vikrant to save Kirti and Puru. After the engagement ceremony, Vikrant kills Dev after finding him in his house. Kirti sees Dev's dead body and is horrified. Vikrant comes to know about this and tries to kill Kirti. He shows split personality while confessing his deeds. Kirti tries to escape from Vikrant's grasp as he gets determined to kill her. In the conflict, Kirti breaks down as she shoots Vikrant. Vikrant reveals to Kirti his past.

Past: Vikrant faced a challenging childhood as he wasn't loved by his father, Ajay. His mother, Nandini, passed away due to sickness, leaving a void in his life. During his time at boarding school, Vikrant struggled academically and found himself isolated without any close friends except for Rohit. Unfortunately, he became a target for bullying. Out of the warden's extreme torture, Rohit committed suicide. This is when Vikrant developed Split Personality Disorder and killed the warden. He used to kill the girls who tried to take control over him.
