Talk:Dangerous Woman Tour

Redrict

edit

Can we take out the redrict? We gave been getting more information about the tour lately. Dates are expected tomorrow (8/28). Thanks ~keeganmccsrthyrocks || Original author of the 'Dangerous Woman Tour' wiki page Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 14:54, 27 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok, so this page is protected so we won't have any vandalism. She has actually announced the first batch of tour dates and you should keep it unprotected. Kind regards. Chantelle4422 😊 Xoxo -- Chantelle4422 (talk) 07:03, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I'm "new" (I know a lot about wiki but I haven't edited too much) so I don't know how to do the protected. I was the one who created the page so I need it unlocked to continue updating it. Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 11:24, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but if you're the person who created this page, that doesn't mean that you're hosting it. We won't unlock it, because it doesn't give you anything. edit

There has been some editing warring. I have added some important information to keep the page nice. I have been warned to not do that, but yet the person who warned me has been doing the same thing. I spent 3 hours collecting information to the page. I'd like to point out that I am the original author. This means I request a protection because the protection tab doesn't show up on my skin (MonoBook). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keeganmccarthyrocks (talkcontribs) 22:27, 11 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Being the original author does not give you ownership rights on the page or the right to impose a protection tab. Jack1956 (talk) 22:54, 11 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Keegan, please read WP:OWN. Also, generally, please read WP:MOS. Two issues: First, you deleted the categories, which are essential to the article, so I put them back in. Please do not delete them. Second, I do not think that Grande's various statements on her social media that she had *not* finalized the tour dates are of encyclopedic interest. See WP:NOT. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:35, 11 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Major changes

edit

This section is for where you can discuss making a major change without multiple citations. For example, if you add a 'Critical Response' and don't have many sources of information, please say something and we can discuss so we can have accurate information. Like today, someone added venues when only 1 has been confirmed as far as I know. For example, someone added TD Garden as the venue for the Boston show when the covert wasn't listed on the TD Garden calander/website. If you DO have a source or multiple, please add it right away! If we research and find it incorrect, we'll just remove it or change it with a quick explanation in the History section. Ending date as of 9/23

edit

There has been much confusion on the ending date. One side is reverting it to April 15 and the other is reverting to TBA . Grande has stated that there are in fact more dates coming. The last date for the tour is 4/15. It seems (in my opinion) to be most reasonable that the ending date should be kept as 4/15. Because

A) It looks more professional to have an ending date when there is one available- weather it's temporary or not B) Since that is the last date of leg one and leg one has only been released

I think it would be fair to put a note in stating that it has been confirmed there are more dates coming and that the 15 is only temporary and keep the 15th in the info box. I would like to hear someone's point of view on keeping TBA. Thank you Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 20:23, 23 September 2016 (UTC) Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 20:23, 23 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is not "more professional" to put an incorrect ending date, it is more professional to not put a date until one is confirmed. There is no such thing as a temporary end date, an end date is, by its very nature, permanent. Just ask yourself this: Does the tour actually end on April 15? The answer to that is no. There is no end date available. Your point of view would only be valid if it hadn't been announced that there would be more dates, but that is not the case. We do not have an end date, so none can be put. There is no discussion to be had here. Fan4Life (talk) 10:40, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
April 15th is the end of the first leg. And the first leg has only been released. It's like this in all the concert tour Wikipedia pages. They put a temporary end date. Please stop threatening people and being disrespectful because you have a different opinion. I was trying to make a compromise. Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 13:02, 24 September 2016 (UTC) Keeganmccarthyrocks (talk) 13:02, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
FIRST LEG not the whole tour, it doesn't matter that only the dates for the first leg are known, it is confirmed that there are more to come. There is no prerogative for this. I am not threatening people and I am not being disrespectful because someone else has a different opinion, you made an edit that requires discussion and consensus first, so you received a warning with no faith assumption, then you ignored the warning and made the edit again, still not discussing it, so as per Wikipedia policy I issued the next level warning. This is not an opinion based matter, nothing on Wikipedia ever is, everything is fact based. You can't just make a compromise, you have to discuss it and come to consensus first. I see that 3 notes have been made. Should we make the notes exhaustive? For instance she performed Honeymoon Avenue in Tulsa and Esta Noche in Manchester. However, it is hard to find credible sources on this, other than just YouTube videos of the performances.

I want the list to be exhaustive but I also don't want to add things without a proper source, what should I do? Angusaditus (talk) 14:00, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Removal of fancruft and crystal AUS dates

edit

The line "On September 26, 2016, Grande announced that the tour would visit Australia.[6]" needs to be omitted because it is WP:CRYSTAL and WP:FANCRUFT. Eight months on from the announcement by Grande, no AUS dates have been released or confirmed, despite dates for other countries having been released since, notably in South America. Fan4Life insists that this line needs to stay, despite it clearly not happening. He says it is CRYSTAL to not include this line, but in fact it is the opposite. How long exactly do we wait until it is removed? Until she does another tour? We all know that what people say and what people do are two very different things, and mention of AUS should only be included when she actually confirms real dates at real venues with real tickets available to buy.  — Calvin999 19:24, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Setlist

edit

I changed the setlist to represent the setlist in Oslo as that included "Focus", which is a permanent addition to the setlist, but didn't include an interchangeable slot. The edit has since been reverted because the source I provided was said to be unreliable. However with setlists, anyone can go online and see the concert for themselves, meaning that the setlist is indisputable as it can be verified. There is no reason to keep a setlist that excludes a permanent addition to it when the setlist that does include it is equally verifiable. Fan4Life (talk) 13:55, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Again, Wikipedia runs on reliable, verifiable sources. This is not the first time this has happened, which is why it states the set list of representative of a specific date's concert, and may not represent the entire duration of the tour. Setlist FM is not a reliable source, as anyone can go online and edit it. We rely on the reliable, third-party sources, and to remove them is what makes Wikipedia unreliable to the naked eye. This is why the notes section exists, and we provide reliable, third-party sources to note when a song is either included or excluded from the tour's set list. livelikemusic talk! 14:00, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hidden notes section in set list

edit

Hidden notes in the set list has always been used in most tour pages. I'm just trying to keep consistency where notes are hidden and not shown, plus the format without it being hidden looks messy in my opinion. Musicpoplover12 (talk) 02:14, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

It "looks messy" to include important information? Please do better than that! I do not believe that there is any policy or guideline that says to hide information that explains differences with respect to a key aspect of the tour, which is: "what songs were performed in the concerts"? That seems to be very important information for most readers interested in this article, and the particular items mentioned in the notes appear, in each case, to be certainly of interest to most readers. -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:46, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
All other concert tours have them hidden. There is no need to have them unhidden as they are not essential information. You need to understand that you categorically cannot make changes to the structure/layout of the page just because you think that is how it should be, if you don't like how something is, you have to take it to the talk page. Currently, consensus is to keep them hidden, so don't keep unhiding them. Fan4Life (talk) 16:13, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oops! You're wrong again and again. I don't think there's any such guideline, and yes, it is helpful information that anyone interested in the set list would want to know. Also, there is no consensus to hide it. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:46, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
There is general Wikipedia consensus, as shown by the fact that the vast majority of concert tours have them hidden. How many times, you cannot make major changes to the layout and structure of the page just because that's how you think things should be done, this is WP:OWNBEHAVIOR and you need to stop. You have not even tried to gain consensus, you never even opened a discussion, just like when you took it upon yourself to make a major change to the structure of the Life and career section over at Ariana Grande. You are alone in your view that they shouldn't be hidden, both myself and Musicpoplover12 agree that they should be hidden, meaning that no other user in the discussion agrees with you, and therefore you have no consensus for your changes. Fan4Life (talk) 14:04, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree with ssilver that there is no rule suggesting that these notes be hidden, and that it would be a bad idea to hide it. I am also not convinced that the featured articles concerning concert tours have established a general practice to hide this information. There is certainly no consensus here to hide the information, and I note that Jack1956 also edited to un-hide the information, so there are at least three editors here who believe that it should not be hidden. UWS Guy (talk) 06:28, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
But there is no reason to unhide them. Plus, it is established pratice to hide them. Fan4Life (talk) 12:25, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, it is not customary at all in Wikipedia to hide noteworthy information. -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:07, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Fan4Life please stop edit warring. Unless you can show a guideline that justifies hiding this information, then the information needs to be shown. Somambulant1 (talk) 22:11, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Or alternatively, provide some form of evidence/guideline that justifies why we should go against general Wikipedia consensus. Fan4Life (talk) 23:06, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Consensus is not to keep them hidden. Please do not edit war. Thanks. Jack1956 (talk) 23:44, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

This still needs to be resolved, there is no consensus, it is literally 2 vs. 2. Fan4Life (talk) 20:26, 2 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I understand that different songs in a set list is important information, however, like Fan4Life said, there are a majority of concert tours that have a hidden notes sections. There's even a hidden notes section for The Honeymoon Tour, Grande's prior concert tour. The times I've edited concert tour pages, I've ALWAYS just used the format that is regularly used for the set list, a set list provided from a source, and a hidden notes section. This is keeping consistency throughout most concert tour pages that will be made in the future, and I do understand that some concert tour pages don't do hidden notes as stated by Ssilvers, but I would like to point out this. When I edited The 1989 World Tour, I was the one who periodically added to the notes and special guest sections, which are hidden. You see how much information are in both that they are hidden for a reason. If those hidden sections were to be unhidden, the WHOLE set list section would be too long. I get that I'm format picky, but as I been editing, it's been a practice I've been accustomed to. Musicpoplover12 (talk) 19:31, 3 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
See WP:OSE. Just because it happens on some pages does not mean it is a good idea. Hidden comments are guided by Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Hidden text, and although hiding content is not on the proscribed list, it goes against the letter and spirit of all the suggested uses in the "Appropriate uses for hidden text" section. - SchroCat (talk) 22:11, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
But it is general Wikipedia practice to hide the notes section, and Wikipedia policy dictates that small consensus cannot override large consensus. Fan4Life (talk) 21:51, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
First, Fan4Life, you have not demonstrated any such practice or consensus, let alone a practice used in Featured Articles, which might be at least a useful precedent. In fact, however, as SchroCat pointed out, hiding text is against the principles of Wikipedia except in certain cases that generally relate to administrative items. This is because we are an encyclopedia that presents all the important editorial information on the face of our articles, rather than storing it away behind a hierarchical system or other access walls. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:08, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ssilvers: Almost every tour article hides the notes, meaning it is general Wikipedia practice. User:SchroCat is reaching with that, it's quite tenuous, they are trying to discredit general Wikipedia practice using MoS. Fan4Life (talk) 19:26, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
~sigh~ Can you find any guideline or polcy that backs up hiding sourced information? Please let me know on which part of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Hidden text you basing your opinion. I'm afriad that you seem to be putting the horse before the cart by claiming I am "trying to discredit general Wikipedia practice using MoS". That's an utterly ridiculous claim. If youthink you have any ground to stand on, open an RfC and let the wider community comment on the thought of hiding encyclopaedic content where no-one will ever read it. - SchroCat (talk) 19:32, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Again, Fan4Life, you have not demonstrated any such thing. Again, if you presented a survey of all Featured Articles that have hidden notes and all that do not, that might be useful information. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:40, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Billboard boxscores for her concerts in Sweden, Norway and Denmark were wrong (apparently they didn't convert Kronas to Dollars, just changed the currency simbol). Billboard has now realized the mistake and they have removed those three shows from this week's Current Boxscore page:
