Fair use rationale for Image:PresidenteDiosdadoCabello.jpg

edit

Image:PresidenteDiosdadoCabello.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Diosdado Cabello, acting president after Chavez’s death?

Constitución de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela (Constitution of the Bolivarian Repulic of Venezuela)

"Artículo 233. (...) Si la falta absoluta del Presidente o la Presidenta de la República se produce durante los primeros cuatro años del período constitucional, se procederá a una nueva elección universal, directa y secreta dentro de los treinta días consecutivos siguientes. Mientras se elige y toma posesión el nuevo Presidente o la nueva Presidenta, se encargará de la Presidencia de la República el Vicepresidente Ejecutivo o la Vicepresidenta Ejecutiva."

  • 233rd. Article (...) "If the permanent absence of the President or "Presidentess" of the Republic occurs during the first 4 years of the constitutional period, a new, universal, direct and secret election shall be held within the following thirty days. Meanwhile is elected and is inaugurated the new President or "Presidentess", the Executive Vice President or Executive Vice "Presidentess" shall take the office of the Presidency of the Republic."
I understand, but BBC said "under the constitution, the head of Venezuela's Congress, Diosdado Cabello, will assume the interim presidency before an election is held." The situation has not yet clear. --Norden1990 (talk) 00:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Before Chávez start his next term, He went to Cuba due to his illness, so he didn't sworn; That means he didn't started his Fourth term. MrGcCc (talk) 00:35, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
However, this means that Chávez did not serve as president, when he died. Then who was the acting president between failure to sworn and Chávez's death? --Norden1990 (talk) 00:46, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Despite what the constitution says and allows, this is incorrect. Chavez handpicked Nicolás Maduro[1]. Whether or not this is constitutional is irrelevant as sources are reporting that Maduro is taking over leadership.[2] Cabello has reportedly accepted Chavez' decision BBCRyan Vesey 00:39, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
There was no acting president when Chávez left, If you mean who managed the country while he was out, then it was Maduro, the Vice-president.
Venezuela isn't a Monarchy, Chávez Can't elect the next President (interim or not) of Venezuela. Here in Venezuela, so far we know Diosdado Should take temporal leadership, if Maduro or anyone else takes it, They would be breaking the constitution. MrGcCc (talk) 00:51, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
So far news sources are reporting that Maduro is the acting president. If the constitution was broken then it was broken, that has no bearing on who is acting as President. If news sources say Cabello is acting, then the information should be included. Ryan Vesey 00:55, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
That would be in the United States, News sources like [3] and [4] states that Diosdado Cabello is (or should be) the Interim President of Venezuela. Anyways they have broke the constitution multiple ways before, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do it again, It's just matter of time. MrGcCc (talk) 01:01, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Except that news that is more local to Venezuela is currently reporting Cabello as acting president. See here. --Super Goku V (talk) 01:06, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Then Diosdado Cabello is the acting President unless government says anything else. MrGcCc (talk) 01:09, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
This source [5] from Argentina I believe, states that Cabello should be in power, but the power is in the hands of Maduro. Whether Diosdado Cabello should be President is debatable, the best option is to report nobody as acting and instead report that it is disputed as to who is and should be the President. The La Republica source you used uses the future tense in regards to Cabello taking interim control and bases its decision not on what is actually occurring, but what the constitution says. Ryan Vesey 01:15, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is no official source that states that Nicolas Maduro is the acting President yet, So the really best option to do now is to listen the Constitution, and leave the article just as it is right now until Government says anything else. MrGcCc (talk) 01:30, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
What official sources are stating that Cabello is acting as president? Using the constitution to make our own interpretation as to who is acting is original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Ryan Vesey 01:33, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Is not our interpretation, It is how the Venezuelan government is, You're right saying that there's no official source, but there is also no official source that states Maduro is the acting President, And if the case is using the constitution to make our own interpretation (Which I am not, just stating what the constitution says), Then some editors had already done it before by claiming Nicolas Maduro was the acting President. MrGcCc (talk) 01:43, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
They did not claim that from the constitution, they, like me, have pointed out what sources are saying. In any case, all I want is for this article to not state that anybody is the president at this time. We don't know yet. Ryan Vesey 01:45, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Those sources aren't official, they are based on the constitution and other sources, but since we don't know anything yet, If they are going to break the constitution or not, I have to agree with you in the case that we shouldn't state anybody as the acting president for now. MrGcCc (talk) 01:52, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, what do you think of the change I made? [6] Ryan Vesey 02:00, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

We should also edit every page stating that Diosdado is the acting President, Maybe add a link on those articles to this discussion? MrGcCc (talk) 02:06, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've fixed a number, can you take a look at List of Presidents of Venezuela and think of the best way to fix it? I don't know what to put in the infobox. Ryan Vesey 02:12, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Article 233 http://www.venezuelaemb.or.kr/english/ConstitutionoftheBolivarianingles.pdf says that if the President-elect can't take office then the President of the National Assembly will be the Acting President until new elections, but remember that on 9 January 2013, the Supreme Court of Justice said that the sworn was just a mere formalism in this case and that the Presidency of Chávez will continue without interrumption. Because of it, the news are "The President of Venezuela dies" and not "The President-Elect of Venezuela dies".

The text on section Allegations that talks about Derwick does not correspond to WP principles for writing a Biography of living person: every individual is presumed to be innocent until proven the contrary and convicted by a court of law. Non conviction has been secure; therefore I suggest deleting the paragraph. Toma Alcantara (talk) 15:18, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Accusation made with more certainty than the source contains

edit

We say : "[O]n 13 August 2017, The Miami Herald reported that Diosdado Cabello had initiated an assassination plot targeting Rubio ...".

The title of the article used as a source for this statements says "Powerful Venezuelan lawmaker may have issued death order against Rubio". The article is subscriber-only so I cannot check whether the article contains a more definite allegation.

I hope editors can see the difference between these two statements, remembering this is a BLP. Burrobert (talk) 03:38, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the wording per these concerns. Regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 17:39, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
