Death

edit

Samuel L. Jackson, however has not died. The mention of his name along with Bernie Mac's needs to be changed pronto!200.63.207.54 (talk) 01:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)AldenReply

TMZ is reporting he died!!! Has anybody else heard it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.20.243 (talk) 19:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

CNN is reporting his death as well.

I saw it on TMZ but you beat me to the edit, i always wanted to edit a Wiki page

Issac Hayes passed away this morning around 2:08 am. was taken to Baptist East about 7 miles from his home found on floor by his treadmill —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iwanttopost (talkcontribs) 20:00, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I'm seeing more 2am than 2pm. Of the sources I've seen so far, only CNN says 2pm. WODUP 20:42, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Could you cite some sources that say 2 a.m.? Two of the sources used in this article (CNN and WMC-TV) both say p.m. Nufy8 (talk) 20:55, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I trust CNN a lot more to be honest with you. But I think it would be best to mention both times. RgoodermoteNot an admin  20:56, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
(ec)WMC-TV, TMZ. I swear WMC said AM before, maybe he did die this afternoon. I'm sure we'll find out for sure with time. WODUP 20:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
And now TMZ has amended their story to say 2:08 PM. PM it is. WODUP 17:20, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Cause of death cannot be "a devastating recurrence of stroke [sic]". A series of strokes may have led to his death, but only one stroke caused it.Royalcourtier (talk) 01:11, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

He's currently in BOTH Category:Deaths from stroke AND Category:Stroke survivors. I can understand how this can still be true seeing as how he's had more than one stroke (survived one, died from another one) but it's still a contradiction that can mislead or confuse some of our readers. I would suggest removing the "survivors" category. -- œ 04:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the "survivors" category is better off removed. Snuggums (talk / edits) 04:32, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wives?

edit

the article mentions that he has been married three times but doesn't actually mention to whom or when. Rmd1023 (talk) 20:52, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Moving sections

edit

I'm moving the section about his death to follow the South Park section since it follows better chronologically, especially with the mention of his stroke and later effects. CFLeon (talk) 21:25, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Soul Men movie - 2 stars from it die within days of each other

edit

We'll need to add Soul Men to Hayes' Filmography. One should also note the untimely death of Hayes and Bernie Mac within days of each other. Both star in this movie.

Page vandalism?

edit

I just read elsewhere that Isaac Hayes had died. When I went to check out this article, all it shows is literally hundreds of lines of: "PWND ". Is this a technical problem or has the article been vandalised somehow? I'm not too sure what action to take if any. Mlodewijk (talk) 04:00, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

the article has been vandalized. I see it too. I also took a screenshot of it. it's just lines of PWND over and over again. Maladroitmortal (talk) 04:04, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
people obviously have nothing better then to insult dead people...it seems to be a trend these days. however the problem has now been resolved, proving that good once again may triumph over idiocy --Puckeater8 (talk) 04:11, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I concur!!!!!!!! On Microsoft Word, as Times New Roman Size 12, it appears as 126 pages!!!!!!!!! This amounts to 318 KB if he figured out how to get it copied!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.206.206 (talk) 04:15, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Undo the vandalism

edit

Hey, I can't remember my old wiki password so I had to make a new account, but because it's not an established username I can't make changes to the Isaac Hayes page, and right now it has been vandalized. Can someone please undo the vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by CaptainFarrel (talkcontribs) 04:19, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

ClueBot and RC patrollers are all over it. Don't worry. Paragon12321 04:21, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here is a link to the archived information for the Article Page. I would take the time to load it back properly but I never bothered to actually sign up for an account previously and I will have a 4 day wait as the page is not able to be accessed by me.

P.S. Whomever ends up editing it back... Can you add a bit in regards to "Soul Men" and it would probably be an interesting note to add that one of his co-stars from it also died this weekend. http://www.isaachayes.com/press/080218/index.html http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-bernie-mac-services-both-11-aug11,0,4326744.story

Still vandalized

edit

His page is still completed vandalized w/ PWNED. Please revert back to this version.

{{editsemiprotected}}

The page has been protected with PWNED on it. Please revert to an earlier (and complete) edited page.

I don't know who fixed it, but it no longer says that. WODUP 17:22, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Major fix needed ASAP

edit

Obviously some jerk has spammed the page writing "PWNED" thousands of times, completely overwriting the article. This on the day of his death, no less. This page needs to be returned to its original format (and his death covered as well) by someone who is the or a major moderator and then LOCKED. Thank you.

EDIT: It seems to be temporarily fixed. Thank you.--Douglass Moore (talk) 04:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The most recent perpetrator has been blocked. The article is being watched by myself and (I suspect) numerous others. If necessary it can be fully protected. But for now, reversion should be fine. -- Flyguy649 talk 04:38, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! --Douglass Moore (talk) 04:41, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is a famous person and a scientologist no less, on the day of his death and for some time afterwards you have got to expect some vandalism. That is why you need to be signed in with your account and be vigilant towards it. EchetusXe (talk) 10:25, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Personally, if it happens again, I think full protection will be needed for a bit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.206.206 (talk) 16:20, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm way out of touch of current phrases. Is 'PWND' supposed to mean anything- especially in connection with Hayes, Scientology, or even South Park? Seems like the guy was really insistant on that, rather just random vandalism, and just on this particular page CFLeon (talk) 19:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Look up PWND on wikipedia! It is a term used by someone who has defeated an opponent, I.E. "I just pawned you"; which would lead one to beleive that the vandalizer may have been someone who considered Isaac Hayes as an adversary. --DDW 12,august 2008
Yup, it's largely caused in this context by a confusion in adolescents over the proper function of testosterone. --Rodhullandemu 20:54, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, that's a new one on me, although I suspected it was a typo for 'OWNED'. CFLeon (talk) 20:20, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Vandalism"?

edit

I posted some content unflattering to the Church of Scientology on this page and got tagged for "vandalism". I was only repeating Roger Friedman's allegations, and although it is just the one man, he's also a major mainstream journalist with connections to Hayes, so I don't know what exactly is so vandal-ous about what I wrote. Senorbad (talk) 14:33, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Word has just come out that Hayes left nothing to Scientology in his will. This may be relevant in the "Scientology" section. 71.56.2.160 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:21, 26 October 2008 (UTC).Reply

After South Park

edit

Hayes’ income was sharply reduced as a result of leaving South Park.[26] There followed announcements that he would be touring and performing. A reporter present at a January 2007 show in New York City, who had known Hayes fairly well, reported that "Isaac was plunked down at a keyboard, where he pretended to front his band. He spoke-sang, and his words were halting. He was not the Isaac Hayes of the past."[26]

This makes it sound as if leaving South Park would somehow have traumatized Hayes... I believe that his stroke in 2006 should be mentioned somewere in this context as well, since it would be a more likely cause for the apparent break-down. --81.236.212.157 (talk) 17:31, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chronology

edit

The article really should read chronologically. Having the details of Hayes' death in the middle of the piece, with mention of South Park does not conform to Wikipedia guidelines. Really, it should be fixed. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:59, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that would be useful. I have moved a few paragraphs slightly. The South Park section at the end needs to be integrated somehow into the existing content. I don't have time to do that but that would be a useful project. doxTxob \ talk 23:11, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

other prominent "african americans"

edit

in the intro, isaac's academy award success is compared to other "african" americans like sidney poitier - the thing is, sidney poitier is not african american - he was born in the states and his parents were from the bahamas Superwesman (talk) 10:24, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Number of children

In the template under his first photo it states he has 11 children but under “personal life” it states he had 14 in the very first sentence. JClay44 (talk) 02:18, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
