Subheading: Levy

How often is this page updated? I'm out-of-touch with this topic in the news. Actually I think The News is out of touch with this topic as well.
Under the 'Levy' subheading, I'd like to see a summary for the layman by someone who understands the topic, because after reading that paragraph I was unsure of the effective ($) difference between Gillard's proposal and Rudd's. As is anyone else who reads it with no prior knowledge. A bit of research into the numbers provided by the Big Miners, and Their forecasts, might be necessary for a really worthwhile summary; but then, why bother having this page at all if such a summary is not provided? As it is, this page says 'Hey, I watch the news too' to anyone who reads it. The conscientious public wants to see the bottom line.
How does the importance rating work, and is this article as highly rated as it should be? I know this is an Encyclopaedia and not an Australiapaedia, and I don't know what the precedents are, but the super profits tax was the single most important issue being discussed when I was back home, and the way Australia directs exploitation of its resources will have ramifications for Australia and Asia for centuries to come.
Apologies for any tresspasses against proper 'Talk' format and etiquette, I am not a wikieditor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 113.169.215.128 (talk) 12:24, 16 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

This article should be renamed.

The correct title is 'Minerals Resource Rent Tax'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.3.232.28 (talk) 00:53, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Clean Up Tag

edit

Hi all,

I've place a clean-up tag on this article because it previously said BHP supported the RSPT - this is incorrect as detailed by the following article:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/mining-energy/bhp-calls-for-rspt-to-be-scrapped/story-e6frg9df-1225878408197

I corrected it to say BHP "supported" the MRRT but felt the article was well short of where it should be. I'm not even sure if it's correct to say BHP and Rio support the mining tax or just don't oppose it.

Made another change to try and resolve the "support"/"don't oppose" issue I raised above. Cedars (talk) 22:57, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
