Good Articles Proposed by Bot
editHi --Kary247 (talk) 19:14, 19 December 2010 (UTC). You are off to such a great start on the article Postmodern Religion that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article.-- Kary247 (talk) 19:18, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Welcome
edit- I have created this article Postmodern religion (originally called Postmodern Religion), I hope that people will contribute ideas, references and information.
- This article focuses on interpretations of various religions using philosophies of postmodernism.
- Critical discourse analysis of any texts referenced and textual deconstruction would be useful.
- The mainstream ideologies of the various religions discussed should be referenced, as well as consideration of more marginalised perspectives.
- It is important to note that postmodern interpretations of various religions generally still indicates a religious belief in, or an identification with, the religion/s - for example, it may be that a person who interprets Christianity from a postmodern perspective may still identify themselves as being Christian.
- Postmodernism focuses on different versions of truth and reality and is very subjective, this will hopefully enable lots of contributions here from many different and diverse perspectives.

Repeating section
editInformation in "Eclecticism and non-dogmatic theology" section is repeated in "Postmodern Neopaganism" section. Editor2020 (talk) 21:19, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Getting started
editJust to emphasise the information above, postmodern religion may be a religion or it may be a religious interpretation of an existing religion. ^ a b Clarke, Peter (2009). The Oxford Handbook of the sociology of religion. Oxford University Press. Page 306. The average user is likely to type in 'postmodern religion' and following the conventions agreed at Postmodernism - for example 'postmodern psychology'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kary247 (talk • contribs) 09:32, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- What the user types in is irrelevant. The article should be properly titled. If "Postmodern interpretation of religion" is the proper title, that's where the article should be. "Postmodern religion" can always be a redirect to that, and if the user types that in, they will end up at the correct location. Yworo (talk) 13:48, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Many of the references refer to 'postmodern religion' specifically, so this makes sense as the article title. Postmodernism uses the convention for all fields - for example postmodern architecture, postmodern psychology etc. why should religion be any different to all of the other postmodernism sections, this would not be consistent. What the user types into a search engine is relevant, because then the wikipedia article will come up in that search. Again, this article is about postmodern religion and the focus is postmodern interpretations, religion in postmodern era and so on.--Kary247 (talk) 18:28, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Boxing It Out
editIt would be great to add a chart or table of some of the key philosophical concepts and ideas - high school students and University students will be able to grasp key concepts and it will be good for visual learners.--Kary247 (talk) 21:12, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Somebody did add a table, but it was strange and unencyclopedic. I deleted it. Bhny (talk) 15:39, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Alphabetical order
editIt would be good to order the summary of each religion alphabetically so that there is no implied order of importance.--Kary247 (talk) 00:18, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
References
editReference 17 never mentions the words religion, religious, budhist, hindu, judaism, muslim, or islam. It only mentions the word christian once in reference to a republican. I don't see how the source indicates that "postmodern religion" appeals to minorities. TipsyElephant (talk) 18:12, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
