Hymns in Japanese Buddhism
editA previous edit stated "The Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism is the only sect that makes extensive use of hymns along with the chanting of Buddhist sutras." This is nonsense as the Jodo Shinshu hymns are a development of the Tendai and Shingon shomyo traditions, and also in modern times even sects like the Zen Soto-shu freqently sing hymns.
