Talk:Typhoon Yagi

The title name

edit

Nowadays, this article is called "Typhoon Yagi". I would like to rename this article to "Typhoon Yagi (2024)" and set "Typhoon Yagi" as a redirection to "List of tropical storms named Yagi" because there is an article named "Typhoon Yagi (2006)", a good article in English Wikipedia. Does everyone accept the moving request? Sinsyuan✍️🌏🚀 06:35, 6 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: not moved. WP:SNOW: participants strongly oppose the move; recognising the 2024 storm as the main topic based on its human impact (non-admin closure) Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 14:55, 18 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Typhoon YagiTyphoon Yagi (2024) – I would like to add a year in the article's name. Anenglishguyinthephils95 (talk) 10:04, 17 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Strongly oppose and close There is no reason to back the name of the article. Yagi is clearly the primary topic, and the nominator did not provide a reason for adding a year. HurricaneEdgar 11:41, 17 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Strongly Oppose – Why on earth would we add back the year to the iteration of Typhoon Yagi that killed well over 800 people and caused over $16.6 Billion USD in damages? That's more than most storms do in the basin already, let alone individual iterations of Yagi. This requested move should be closed. VantaWiki (talk) 06:33, 18 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Extremely Strong Oppose: Agreed with others on why we shouldn’t add the year back, this storm was highly catastrophic and will very likely be retired. The year in the title is definitely not necessary for Yagi 2024. We should just close this discussion and keep the title the way it is indefinitely, as Yagi is by far one of the most devastating storms of 2024. @Anenglishguyinthephils95 So, does this indicate that the request to move was withdrawn? HurricaneEdgar 04:35, 18 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
