Windjade lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Descendant of Huguenot Foreign Protestants from Montbeliard, who were settled by Edward Cornwallis in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Irish Catholics from Lurgan, English traders from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, a ships' captain from Dumfries whose son worked on the Canadian National Railroad, Mormon missionaries who decided to take a detour from the Winter Quarters on the way to Utah (making a temple in Wetaskiwin, Alberta instead), a Second Boer War medic's daughter, and a couple Quakers here and there, her roots couldn't be more colonial.
After noticing the sparse information available on the Canadian Indian residential school system and their administration, historical influence, and the missionaries that ran them, she decided they were worth writing lots and lots and lots about.
