editRedirects never belong on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. They go to Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion instead, unless they redirect to a nonexistant page or you just created them and are the only editor. Then you would place them on Wikipedia:Speedy deletions. Guanaco 00:48, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- OK. Thank you. I got in a terrible mess there. I don't think it's over... User:Francs2000 is saying it's a 'legitimate misspelling'. However, there is a musician using the name (with one 'o').
- So, a disambiguity needs creating I guess? Can you keep an eye on this as I try to sort it out?
- I made a terrible boob with Virginia Wo(o)lf. User:Francs2000 and User:Guanaco are both aware of it. Hopefully they can resolve it while I go and rest. Sorry all. --bodnotbod 01:07, Apr 30, 2004 (UTC)
Keep it as a redirect for now, then as soon as someone comes along that knows something about the musician using that name, it's quite simple to then turn the redirect into an article in its own right (or a disambig page if appropriate). -- Graham :) | Talk 01:33, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)

editI reverted your changes because you had deleted about half of the content of the page. RickK 01:51, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Have asked RicK about this. I certainly did not do this intentionally, and fail to see how I could have done it accidentally. Have asked how he feels I may have done this to ensure it doesn't happen again. --bodnotbod 15:57, Apr 30, 2004 (UTC)
I'm sure you didn't do it intentionally, but see this diff, this is my revert of your changes. RickK 22:36, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I am a bad, bad person. --bodnotbod 18:17, May 4, 2004 (UTC)
- I find that hard to believe! You've been a busy little Wikipedian well on your way to Wikipediholicism. Welcome to the club. Elf | Talk 20:01, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
- I'm in the same position--need money--work at home--which also means can wiki at home any time I want. Only thing that works for me is to mark out on my daytimer or other schedule very clear chunks of hours labeled "NO WIKI!". Elf | Talk 20:34, 4 May 2004 (UTC)

Welcome
editHi there! Welcome to the 'pedia. I just wanted to give you a few tips and links to get you started. The Tutorial is a great way to learn a lot of the basics. If you have questions, you can put them at the Wikipedia:Help desk or (if you want a broader audience) at the Wikipedia:Village pump. If you need anything, you can also drop me a note on my talk page. Oh, and by the way, I like your tag line. Wikipedia is, in fact, disturbingly addictive for those of us who like knowledge. Sitcom Project Invitation Replies
editThanks for the invitation to join the sitcom/comedy project. I don't watch much TV so don't think I can contribute. Good luck with the project Tiles 07:18, 2 May 2004 (UTC)

Vandals
editNo problem. It happens to a lot of people. I blocked one of them (172...) and will block the other if it makes another vandalism edit. Most likely they will simply melt away. If they return, they will be blocked again by someone else. -- Decumanus | Talk 17:30, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
Ref: the quote you lifted from Tool Auto Academy that you posted on the VfD page. My God — that's EXACTLY what we'd do at our college keg parties! Alcarillo 21:14, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
Random stuff
editGads, this is more popular than my user talk page and I'm a bleedin' sysop... Anyway I just needed to say that where you say I deserve to be thwacked with thorny twigs in the snow I know some as would pay to see that... You're from the UK? Wow, I thought you were American. I don't know why. What part? -- Graham :) | Talk 22:23, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
- Oh right so you're from round Walford way then. Do you know the Slater family personally? I'm from "leafy Buckinghamshire" and I don't talk like Tim Nice But Dim, but know plenty round here that do...
- My British American heritage sounds posh but isn't I can assure you. My mother was the result of a torrid love affair between a sarf Lahndahn gel and an American GI from Massachusetts. All truly shameful stuff I can assure you. We know who the American rellies are, but they don't want to have anything to do with us which is cool because one of the child-abusing bishops from Massachusetts is related on their side of the family and frankly we're from higher stock than that.
- Oh and the thwacked with thorny twigs thing? As a gay man I turn my nose up at the underlying assumption that I'm not going to be interested in you because you're a bloke, but then again I'm in a long term relationship and aren't really into that anyway. I'm going to stop rambling now, let you get on with your work and go to bed because I tend to work at sensible hours (i.e. during daylight). -- Graham :) | Talk 23:38, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
- No my accent is thoroughly English, probably the same as yours if not slightly posher (I do, after all, come from the posh end of the country). I have only been to the US twice in my life, for a total of five weeks.
- Writing competitions? Now that's commitment. I write but it never gets posted anywhere but my livejournal, and I'm always too busy to do anything that good... I like poking my nose in too many places to properly relax. And I only flirt online with straight guys, they're much more fun to wind up... -- Graham :) | Talk 09:37, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
- You see the to be a writer you must write thing is where I fall down. I'd love to write a book one day, it's even on my life list (yeah I know it's a bit hackneyed but there are times when I need the inspiration to get up in the morning) but apart from typing stuff on a livejournal and chatting to folks here there and everywhere, I never write a thing. Not even at work, even though I'm supposed to...
- But once you work out how to write and get paid for it, you have to let me know. That one's always foxed me completely... -- Graham :) | Talk 22:48, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
- This'll make you laugh, I bought that book about five years ago and it's been sat on my bookshelf ever since... Never mind. It took me four years to read Teach Yourself HTML In 24 Hours and now I teach it part time... -- Graham :) | Talk 23:17, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
Super PLAY
editActually, independency is a valid alternate spelling of independence. Also, you're right about computer/PC games, I've changed that. Fredrik 23:12, 4 May 2004 (UTC)
- That might be right, thanks for the correction. Fredrik 09:15, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
sitcom writers
editSeems you got more than three viewers out of 60,000! Reading your user page, I developed the idea that as there isn't already a "List of sitcom writers" ("No page with this exact title exists"), and if there's nothing close to that, you would be the person to create one. Good luck! Robin Patterson 20:10, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for prompt reply on my talkpage. I hope you're tucked up in bed by now - it's only "us pensioners" who are able to stay up to all hours wiki-ing! (And in New Zealand this is lunchtime.) Anyway, I added a more precise linked recommendation on the appropriate section of your userpage. By the way, my wife and I enjoy UK TV comedy too. Robin Patterson 01:37, 6 May 2004 (UTC)
VfD
editDon't forget to sign your entries on VfD, you didn't sign either of your last submissions. I know it's counter to some pages on the Wiki, but everyhing in VfD is signed.
It's good to see a new person there. --Ben Brockert 22:25, May 5, 2004 (UTC)
- I'm sure you'll catch right on. --Ben Brockert 00:12, May 6, 2004 (UTC)
- Oh, and you might want to check out the criteria for speedy deletion, some of the new pages might be able to go there. It's a much quicker and easier process. --Ben Brockert 00:15, May 6, 2004 (UTC)
