March 2009

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Tertiary color. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.   Your recent addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. See here, you undid user Crazy4metalica who removed some copyvio. Martin451 (talk) 23:52, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, pretty much the entire segment you re-added was a direct copy from MTV. I wouldn't have minded but C4M put that in two edit summaries. Don't add (c) material. Darrenhusted (talk) 23:54, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar!

edit
  The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I noticed your prompt revert when someone blanked today's featured article, Emery Molyneux. It is always important to keep our pages in good condition, and this is especially true on the article we present to readers as our best foot forward for the day. With a quick review of your contributions, I see that you've removed or resolved a great deal of vandalism in your time here on Wikipedia, and I want to present you with this barnstar as a small token of appreciation for your hard work. Thank you! – Luna Santin (talk) 01:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Radio

edit

Hey Brandon - good job on that IP vandal on the Radio page. I went ahead and reported him to WP:AIV and he is currently blocked for 31 hours.

Probably should keep an eye on it starting tomorrow evening sometime - see if he comes back and decides to retaliate.

Regards and thanks! --Manway (talk) 01:36, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hidden messages navbox

edit

Hi Brandon, thanks for your work cleaning up the {{hidden messages}} template. Just for your information, these templates are called navboxes, not infoboxes. It's not a big deal, but your edit summary here confused me until I opened the diff and had a look. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 23:41, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I get those confused sometimes. The template was in a non-standard format so I changed it. Sorry if I got you confused. --Brandon5485 23:43, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I figured it out once I looked at the edit. I was just confused when I saw "infobox" in the edit summary. Either way, it's not a major problem; I just thought I'd give you that tidbit of info. Best, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 23:49, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your rollback request

edit

Hello Brandon5485, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, then don't use rollback and instead, use a manual edit summary. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 23:06, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :D --Brandon5485 23:06, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Warning

edit

Hi

Apologies for the warning, we edited at the same time and HG warned you instead of the vandal! Please accept my apologies --5 albert square (talk) 23:27, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's fine :). I was a little worried that I did something wrong though. --Brandon5485 23:30, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
No, you didn't. When more than two editors edit one page at the same time, Huggle usually refuses to revert the page or asks if you want to revert the edit by whitelisted user 5 albert square etc. I know I definitely didn't get any warning about you, so it must be a mistake on Huggle's part :) --5 albert square (talk) 23:37, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK understood. Maybe this problem w/HG should be reported though. --Brandon5485 23:39, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I actually wouldn't know who to report it to but I can honestly say that in the few months I've had Huggle that's never happened before. It's more than likely you reverted and then I reverted and Huggle just got confused --5 albert square (talk) 23:56, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ah OK. Yeah I don't know where to report it either. I was just wondering if you knew, then maybe they could look into it or something. It really wasn't that big a deal though. --Brandon5485 00:32, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I knew I was about to cross the line. I've been on here for a long time, yet don't know how the site works. Can you help me with that person about vandalism?--Yugiohmike2001 (talk) 23:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I think that both of you should discuss your ideas on the discussion page for Talk:Florida Championship Wrestling or each other's user talk pages, and try to find an agreement, consensus, or compromise. I would be happy to help both of you better understand Wikipedia policy, and I see that it was not either of your intention to make disruptive edits. Rules are rules, however. --Brandon5485 23:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think he done it again. He vandalised the FCW page again. Can you help me with it so I can't break the rules?--Yugiohmike2001 (talk) 23:48, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I do not vandalise nothing. I was just correcting some mistakes. Stop crying like a baby and talk like a man, please. Let us discuss this as two FCW fans instead "fighting" each other— Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.106.76.221 (talkcontribs)
@Yugioh: No, what he is doing isn't vandalism. At very worst, it is what we call Good faith edits, which means no malicious intent is involved. Always assume good faith with edits, unless it contains profanity, insults, or other unwanted content. I am not going to take sides in this dispute; both of you must discuss your changes with each other without being hostile, and come to a conclusion of how both of you will improve this article. Or, if there is no conclusion, you may have to go to the Wikipedia:Requests for comment and seek opinion of other editors. I would recommend trying to sort it out on your own, however. Trust me, there are no vandals in this, and never get into an edit war.
@189.106.76.221: Do not call him a baby. If you want to know how "real men" sort this out, they sort it out by discussing it, not by insulting each other. --Brandon5485 23:58, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also, 189.106.76.221, I do not think you are a vandal, and neither should Yugioh. "Vandal" means that someone is trying to make the article worse, when obviously both of you were trying to make it better. Neither of you is a vandal, but you both had differing ideas on how to improve the article. Both of you should discuss these ideas together without insulting each other, and try to reach an agreement. Calling people "baby" is not appropriate, and neither is calling people who are in good faith "vandals". I don't want anyone to be blocked today, so please do the mature thing and work it out calmly and peacefully. --Brandon5485 00:03, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if looks like I am insulting him, but I never call him a baby. I just said that he was acting like one (and, please, he really was). And, look, he called me a "vandal" on the FCW discussion page. But, ok, I am still open for discussion without doing something appropriate.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.106.76.221 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for calming down. I know both of you are very big fans of FCW, and you don't want to see someone else ruining the page. I know both of you want to improve it. Why don't you contact Yugioh on his talk and tell him what you felt was wrong with the article and how you corrected that with your edit. Then he can tell you what he felt was wrong with your edit, and why he reverted you. Both of you, then, can improve the article together by coming to an agreement on how this will be done, and satisfy both parties (both of you). I am happy to see two editors who are interested in improving Wikipedia, and I would like to see good, agreed-upon changes to FCW. Remember to sign your posts on talk pages, though (type four tildes like this ~~~~ and your comment will be stamped with the time and your name, so that others can collaborate with you). --Brandon5485 00:18, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

FCW

edit

Brandon, I am really trying to show the guy what is wrong in the "corrections" that he made. But I do not know why he do not understand it. Please, I am here just to help not to do some prejudice. Thanks for the advice.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.106.76.221 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for understanding. I know neither of you wanted to be disruptive, but the policy here prohibits 3 reverts. Both of you should discuss this issue with each other on the Talk:Florida Championship Wrestling page, and try to reach a consensus, agreement, compromise, etc. This is one of the things that makes Wikipedia great: if we have a dispute, we can solve it in a civil manner. Again, thank you for understanding this dispute, and it will be resolved. BTW, remember to sign your comments with 4 tildes: like this ~~~~. :D--Brandon5485 23:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am really trying to discuss as I did on the Talk:Florida Championship Wrestling page, but there this guy are just crying "stop the vandal" and things like that. I am really sad about it because I just want to help as an avid FCW fan.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.106.76.221 (talkcontribs)

I have told him to stop calling you a vandal. I know you're not a vandal, and that you are seriously trying to improve the page. This needs to be made clear: Neither person here is guilty. Neither person here is completely innocent. Neither person here needs to be blocked or reprimanded if they can work this out peacefully and maturely. If either of you is unwilling to solve this by yourselves, go to the Requests for comment, file a report, and people will evaluate both of your edits. Otherwise, you both might have to be blocked. --Brandon5485 00:08, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you a lot and sorry for everything. And I am really pleased if all of us could work togheter to improve the articles about the things we are fans.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.106.76.221 (talkcontribs)

Good that you were trying to clean up an article missing a reflist but if you check the History it is clear the article had been vandalized, nearly all of it had been blanked. I've reverted it now but since you're clearly a good faith editor I wanted to let you know you could have restored/reverted the article and would have been as easy as adding the reflist. -- Horkana (talk) 20:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

New Years Message for WikiProject United States

edit

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. If you do not want to recieve a monthly message please put an * before your name on the members page.--Kumioko (talk) 02:43, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:09, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Finland - € 0.20 euro cent coin.gif

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Finland - € 0.20 euro cent coin.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eleassar my talk 08:03, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

You should replace these files with your own photographs and provide a detailed fair use rationale. Per commons:Commons:Currency#Finland, the Finnish euro coins are in the public domain, therefore if you decided to make your own photograph, it should be copied to Commons. This rendering is not free though. Eleassar my talk 08:31, 4 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Proposed deletion of UC Berkeley College of Letters and Science

edit

The article UC Berkeley College of Letters and Science has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject doesn't appear to be independently notable (notability is not inherited from its unquestionably notable parent organization)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
