Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lp and p

edit
this is the equation from the lp space article itself:

The definition of p says that

You can't leave out the part that says "< ∞". And if it only goes up to n terms rather than going on forever, then the part about "< ∞" is ALWAYS true, so there's no point in having such a definition. But what was asked about was Lpnot p. So we're looking at

and again, the part that says "< ∞" is the essence. Michael Hardy (talk) 20:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Verbatim quote from the Lp space article:
The space ℓp is then defined as the set of all infinite sequences of real (or complex) numbers such that the p-norm is finite.

I was amazed at your statement that Lp space is not infinite-dimensional. You're incredibly confused if you think that. Michael Hardy (talk) 22:18, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Inverse metal

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Inverse metal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable concept and phrase.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Civility

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Wikipedia:Help desk. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
