edit

Szia,

For whenever you get back: how well-versed are you in Hungarian mythology? I'm rather preoccupied with it (and ancient Hungarian history, and the tantalizing instances of overlap between the two) lately and it might be fun, as well as a nice change of pace, to work on some articles on those topics for a while. (I just spent the better part of an hour writing the legend of the Csodaszarvas in as much detail as I can remember off the top of my head--which is actually a lot--on this page, but then I somehow hit the wrong button and lost it all. ARGH.) Anyway, I hope you're well, and anticipating the imminent arrival of Mikulás at least half as eagerly as I am. ;-) Makes up for the imminent arrival of a blizzard tomorrow where I am...anyway, enough rambling...g'night. :) K. Almost there...as we speak, I'm coming tantalizingly close to getting some nice 30-second sound clips of his playing off my old vinyl LPs (thank you, modern technology) but there are still a few weird little bugs in the system. Anyway, those should be up by tomorrow evening if all goes well, and then I really will write that section about his family and off-stage life you suggested. THEN I'll put it up for FAC. (Do you think I should submit it for a WikiProject Biography peer review first, or just plunge straight in to the big time? Simple impatience makes me lean towards the latter, but whichever...) K. If you've got a spare moment or two, I'd like to hear your opinion on this. I can see the rationale behind explicitly identifying someone as Jewish if he were from a country (Russia, Germany etc.) that considered Jewish a separate nationality, but since that wasn't the case in Hungary it seems a bit odd, like identifying Liszt as a "Christian Hungarian composer." But, eh, I'm open to debate...K. Lásztocskatalk 00:16, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Hungary

edit

The WikiProject Hungary project page is now operational. WikiProject Hungary is a WikiProject whose aim is to increase the quality of articles related to Hungary and Hungarians. It is chiefly designed to help users collaborate on articles, but also to resolve disputes, and to coordinate work on vandalism clean-up. As a long term plan it was suggested that this notice board should be integrated into the WikiProject as it was done in the case of Poland. Intrested Wikipedians should sign up at the participants page. Discussion about Banners and other issues takes place at the project discussion page. Hobartimus (talk) 17:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:1956 hungary freedomfighter.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bestfiver.jpg}

edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Bestfiver.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image source problem with Image:1956_hungary_freedomfighter.jpg

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:1956_hungary_freedomfighter.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:06, 11 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 17:06, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Given that the FAR has been closed (something I'm not concerned about); how should the discussion that was occurring at the FAR's talk proceed? Fifelfoo (talk) 08:23, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it would be nice to tie up some of the loose ends, however, it should be in the context of broad participation, not just two editors, should count for something (experience suggests that it will not) and of course the main page is closed.
HOWEVER - the discussion page is still open, a few other editors might still have this on their watchlist and care to contribute, and we may indeed be able to come to, if not agreement, then accurate measure of the issue. BTW, my absence for the past few days was due to the flu (w/ relapse) and not on purpose. I will try to post something and we can see if this has any traction.

Thanks; x-rates didn't have the rate for Nov 28, only Nov 26, when I checked... Do you think the article has a chance at DYK? It was such a stub when I stumbled upon it that it was a shame... – Alensha talk 22:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I use this page for historical rates, but you have to figure the midrate manually as they assume you are either buying or selling (over a spread of course) anyway that was just a tongue-in-cheek edit - good for a laugh (at myself) for being nitpicky. Yes, I indeed believe this has a chance at DYK, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to get some expert advice on preparing it for candidacy (sadly Im not much use in that). Keep up the great editing! István (talk) 04:22, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think it would be a fine idea. The article certainly meets all the criteria. I see Alensha has already nominated it. The only thing necessary is for there to be a footnote after "on July 20, 1590" or the next sentence, telling us where the information in the "hook" comes from. At that point, the article will be ready for approval by some uninvolved user. Biruitorul Talk 23:38, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer rights

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 15:28, 15 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I only hope I can find the time to put it to proper use! István (talk) 14:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification of automated file description generation

edit

Your upload of File:Arpad speaks.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Proposed deletion of File:Kisfonok.JPG

edit

The file File:Kisfonok.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused personal photo.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
