You have been blocked indefinitely from editing all articles for bot-like editing against consensus (WP:NOTBROKEN) and not communicating when asked to stop.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Wug·a·po·des 01:25, 11 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
You have been asked to stop replacing links to redirects with piped links because it is against our guidelines at WP:NOTBROKEN. Despite these warnings, you are still replacing links, and the speed at which you are doing this makes me believe you may be using automated tools without permission. Mking a lot of changes quickly when those changes are against policy is still unacceptable even if done by hand. This is also not the first time you have continued to make edits after being asked to stop. For all these reasons, I have removed your ability to edit articles until you convince an administrator that you will stop making these edits and will listen when editors complain about your editing. There is currently a discussion at the administrator's noticeboard which you were notified about almost 5 hours ago. Please engage in that discussion. Sorry about that, I am trying to get the correct link to the page, I have a learning disability, I have done quite a few good things on Wikipedia, one of my projects is to get the Old Trafford links to the right place as the Cricket Old Trafford in some links. Also Old Trafford, Greater Manchester links should be moved to Old Trafford (area). There are 177 Old Trafford (football ground) which should be moved to Old Trafford Mr Hall of England (talk) 14:07, 11 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I know it must feel like we're messing you around, but I think you're missing the point. Saying "I have learned my lesson" is all very well, but you're giving us no indication that you actually understand why you were blocked, and if you don't understand why you've been blocked we have no reason to think you won't go back to doing it. You can't just say "I won't do it again", you need to explain (briefly) what you're not going to do again and why. Nobody wants to keep you blocked—you obviously want to help—but at the moment I have no way to judge whether the moment I unblock you you're going to go back to wasting other people's time, and the time of those other people is equally as valuable as yours. As an absolute basic start: do you understand what we mean by "cosmetic change" and "automated tool"? I think some of the problem here may be that you don't understand why what you're doing is against Wikipedia's rules. ‑ Iridescent 18:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your message on my talk page

edit

Hi Mr Hall, I'm sorry but I don't have the time at present to be able to mentor you for editing - are the other any editors who you know who you might be able to approach? Apologies for not being able to help at the moment. Maybe try the Rugby Union project page to see if someone can help? I won't be able to update the Six Nations page as requested and will remove that from my talk page as it makes it a bit long. Sorry --Bcp67 (talk) 15:04, 12 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

One think you do need to do is keep your talk page for messages rather than for testing out edits. You can create a sandbox for that by starting a new page as User:Mr Hall of England/sandbox and do your practise edits there. The talk page should just be for people to put messages for you.--Bcp67 (talk) 15:07, 12 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Mr Hall of England, read the above and take it seriously. You still have access to your sandbox if you want to draft content; the fact that you're continuing to abuse this talkpage—which belongs to Wikipedia, not to you, and is intended only for communication—not only means you'll have talkpage access revoked if you keep it up but means you're demonstrating that you have no intention of following Wikipedia's rules and consequently will have any future unblock requests declined. That would be a really lame hill to die on. ‑ Iridescent 21:35, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Let's talk about this

edit

Hi, Mr. Hall! I see you're having problems here. I am going to suggest you temporarily put aside your current goal of finishing the Peerage, and also put your unblock request on hold. If you'll do that, I'll work with you here on your talk page to better understand how things went wrong here on Wikipedia for you. I can't commit to an ongoing mentorship, but I will try to help you get to the point where an administrator might be willing to consider unblocking you. Ping me if you respond or I might not see it. —valereee (talk) 18:29, 16 November 2020 (UTC) Thanks @User:ValereeeMr Hall of England (talk) 21:38, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Great. Okay, first a bit of housekeeping: I'd like to get your work plan off your talk page, as this page should be only where you interact with other editors. It looks like you can do that yourself; please do it. You can move it to your user page if you like.
Second, enable Preferences>Gadgets>Browsing>Navigation popups.
Third, enable Preferences>Editor>Editing>Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary.
Ping me when you've done that. Best to you! —valereee (talk) 22:16, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I will do that tomorrow evening. Thanks for the help.Mr Hall of England (talk) 22:26, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Mr Hall of England, okay, now everything below this section needs to be moved to your user page, where you've got other notes to yourself and stuff you've worked on/want to work on. Your talk page is only for discussing things with other editors and should contain minimal other stuff.
Let me know when you've done that, too. —valereee (talk) 10:27, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
edit

Great, thanks! Okay, we can work on understanding the reasons for the block, which is the most important issue here. First, let's talk about how you learn best. You've been pointed, apparently a few times, at WP:NOTBROKEN. I'm thinking maybe reading long passages is not a great way for you to learn, is that true? It's fine if it's not, we can work with it. —valereee (talk) 18:39, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

OK then @—valereee
Okay, since reading long passages isn't a good way for you to learn, you're going to have to follow one really hard-and-fast rule: if another experienced editor tells you something about policy, you can either 1. believe them and stop doing what you're doing or 2. ask for advice at Teahouse before making any similar edits.
This means you need to simply accept that redirects do not need to be piped, and in fact it is unhelpful to "fix" them. And since you don't understand the reasoning behind that, you need to simply ignore all redirects from here going forward. If you find a redirect that you believe truly is incorrect, you need to ask about it at Teahouse instead of "fixing" it.
Do you think you can commit to that? —valereee (talk) 15:30, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Great! Let's move on. (You can reply on this page, to keep discussion in one spot.)

Additional concerns expressed

edit

Okay, the other concern expressed was that you didn't respond to messages. Whenever you start an editing session, check to see if anyone has left you a message. If so, check to see what they're messaging you about. It could be about something you did in your last editing session.

You've enabled edit summary prompting, which will help you get in the habit of leaving an edit summary for every edit. Edit summaries are just as important as the edits themselves; they tell other editors why you're doing something.

You've also enabled navigation popups, which lets you hover over another editor's name and see how long they've been editing/how many edits they have. Generally if someone with more than 10,000 edits is telling you something about policy, they're quite likely correct. Either believe them, or ask at Teahouse.

Can you commit to responding to messages and using edit summaries? —valereee (talk) 15:55, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

YesMr Hall of England (talk) 15:57, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, why don't you try making another unblock request? I would recommend you use something like this as your reason:
I commit to ignoring redirects and will not try to "fix" them from here going forward. If I find a redirect that seems incorrect, I will ask at Teahouse for advice and help. I also will do my best to stay on top of messages and respond to them. I will keep Edit summary prompts turned on and commit to using edit summaries explaining all edits.
—valereee (talk) 16:12, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Mr Hall, that is not anywhere close to what I suggested you provide as your reason. —valereee (talk) 17:58, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Let's start again:
1. What are you committing to do?
2. What are you committing not to do?
—valereee (talk) 18:00, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am committing to editing but not committing to redirecting Mr Hall of England (talk) 18:13, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what you mean by "not committing to redirecting".
Here is what we need you to commit to, and to make a statement as a reason in your unblock request:
  • We need you to commit to not editing redirects.
  • We need you to commit to using edit summaries.
  • We need you to commit to answering messages.
  • We need you to commit to asking for advice at the Teahouse if you think there's a redirect that needs to be "fixed".
—valereee (talk) 18:21, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I will commit to them, where is the teahouse? Mr Hall of England (talk) 18:23, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse is at WP:Teahouse. You'll need to revise your unblock reason above. —valereee (talk) 18:26, 21 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

message at my talk

edit

re: your comment at my talk: Hi I haven't heard about my blocking lifted. Hope you are well, stay safe. Thank you for the well-wishes, I hope you are well and staying safe, too. You didn't respond to the block in a way that other administrators would likely accept. Please read the section just above, Additional concerns expressed.

Here are the pertinent parts:

Here is what we need you to commit to, and to make a statement as a reason in your unblock request: We need you to commit to not editing redirects. We need you to commit to using edit summaries. We need you to commit to answering messages. We need you to commit to asking for advice at the Teahouse if you think there's a redirect that needs to be "fixed".

You'll need to add to an unblock request a reason addressing all of these. As I suggested before, something like:

I commit to ignoring redirects and will not try to "fix" them from here going forward. If I find a redirect that seems incorrect, I will ask at Teahouse for advice and help. I also will do my best to stay on top of messages and respond to them. I will keep Edit summary prompts turned on and commit to using edit summaries explaining all edits.

—valereee (talk) 20:23, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I will commit to those values Mr Hall of England (talk) 20:29, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

You'll need to replace the 'reason =' section in your unblock request with some statement like that one I suggested. I am not able to unblock you. You will have to convince someone else in your unblock request. —valereee (talk) 23:07, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

edit

An article you recently created, Hereditary Peerages created since the Life Peerages Act 1958, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. possibly getting blocked forever

edit

Mr Hall of England, I am really concerned that you could get blocked from editing indefinitely.

Multiple editors have tried to talk to you about the issues with your editing. We understand that you have a very difficult time complying with things like not fixing something that you think is broken, even when you've been told many times that it's not broken. But when you "fix" those things, someone else has to come along and put them back. That means you are causing other people extra work.

This is important: You could very soon be declared to be a net negative. That is, your good work is outweighed by the work you cause for other people.

If that happens, you will probably be blocked from editing at all, maybe forever. You won't be able to finish your list of tasks.

Please, stop "fixing" redirects. I know that's really hard. You have to stop. They aren't broken. You need to stop fixing them.

I need you to tell me this:

"I will never edit a redirect ever again, no matter what."

If you cannot make that promise, and stick with it, you are probably never getting unblocked. If you make this promise, and you ever edit a redirect ever again, you will likely be blocked from editing indefinitely. This is really serious. You need to pay attention.

I will agree to those terms, also I want to get back to editing my Lords pages. Mr Hall of England (talk) 09:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blocked for sockpuppetry

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mr Hall of England. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  GeneralNotability (talk) 01:44, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've chosen to upgrade to an indefinite full block for the (apparent) evasion. Any admin is free to downgrade this back to a partial block at their discretion without consulting me further. CC Wugapodes as the most recent pblocking admin. GeneralNotability (talk) 01:47, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I found out that I blocked, it wasn't me who did that alleged edit. My main edits are the peerage. I was planning to return to my life peer pages, god willing. Mr Hall of England (talk) 21:11, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You claimed above that your account was compromised; as such, it will not be unblocked. You also do not address the use of other accounts or editing while logged out. As such, I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 06:22, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

While blocked, you may only use this page to request unblock, you may not use it to practice editing or prepare edits(they are still stored in the edit history); it's hard to communicate with you when you load this page down with tables for articles. 331dot (talk) 06:22, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to return to editing as I have been on a low spell and I want to return to what I do best, I feel that I have changed my perspective on editing, I have looked at other editors do well with the Peerage which is good. I would be happy to come back with a moderator, if returned to the fold. Mr Hall of England (talk) 22:18, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Confirmed block evasion as House of Nobles, as well as logged-out editing. I'm sorry to see this. Yamla (talk) 22:56, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

What do I have to do to come back editing, I want to comeback, House of Nobles is not my account. I miss editing, I don't have much of a life, my mental health is in crisis as I can't edit articles or even my Archive pages, I would like to have some training to come back. If your mental health is in crisis, please seek help from a qualified professional. Wikipedia is not here to fix your health issues. Even leaving aside the sock puppetry, which is not in doubt, you have said your account was compromised. These are both reasons this account will not be unblocked. 331dot (talk) 08:23, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

While you didn't create the above article, it is a batch nomination that includes List of presidents of Greece by age, which you did. Newshunter12 (talk) 22:10, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The article 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification – OFC second round has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

All information from this article is already found at 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification (OFC), so no need for a separate article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
