Color for US independent politicians
editHi- I noticed you changed the colors for US independent politicians on several election pages. The separate color code exists for a reason: the gold color is more commonly associated with independent politicians in the US than gray, which is more prevalent elsewhere. Additionally, in other US politics templates, gray is used for other purposes, so it is helpful for there to be a visual difference. I kindly ask that you restore the previous color. Let me know if I can help at all, and thanks for your hard work in the US politics spaces on WP! WMSR (talk) 02:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Gold color? The current color code for Independent (United States) is #DDDDBB, which is, at best, a yellowish shade of gray. I remember when the template was first created that it was a bright yellow or gold color, but after a lot of discussion it was changed to the current color, which is barely distinguishable from the generic independent color in my opinion. That was the impetus for making those changes. I'm not so sure that I agree that yellow is "commonly" associated with Independents, in addition.
- But tbh this is the first time I've seen someone describe the current color as "gold". Nevermore27 (talk) 02:20, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- The terminology of the shade aside, if there was a discussion about the color and a decision was reached, a new discussion and consensus are required to disregard the results of that discussion. Additionally, the way to go about making those changes would be a change to the Independent (US) color code, not wholesale changing of every page that uses it. WMSR (talk) 16:18, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- @WMSR there is no "aside" about the terminology of the shade, my friend! if they are both shades of gray, then there's no reason for there to be two different templates. Nevermore27 (talk) 16:44, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Except that they are still different, and they were previously agreed upon. That is reason in itself. WMSR (talk) 05:31, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- @WMSR was it? I actually went back through the archives of discussions and referenda for the Wikiproject and I can't find anything suggesting that. i think the topic is ripe for a revisit Nevermore27 (talk) 12:38, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- Great, then please start up that discussion, but don't wholesale change several pages based on your aesthetic preferences. That color code still exists for a reason, and should there be consensus for a change, all that would be required is to change the color code, rather than going through every page to change "Independent (US)" to "Independent". WMSR (talk) 14:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- @WMSR the color code was created on a whim and it's remained there because of inertia, not any deep consenus from members of the wiki project. I'd happily start/participate in any conversation about how to move forward, but the correct outcome to my mind is not to have a separate template at all, not just change the color code. Nevermore27 (talk) 14:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- Obviously my preference would be the status quo, but given how common the "Independent (US)" coding is on many pages around WP, it would make sense to make it an alias of "Independent" if that were your desired outcome. Regardless, the solution is not changing thousands of pages, but the template itself. Until then, I plan to restore original coloring. WMSR (talk) 15:00, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- @WMSR your definition of "original" is skewed by your perspective on the issue. truly returning to the "original" coding would be to have the same color code for all independent politicians worldwide. Nevermore27 (talk) 15:03, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

Sticky headers on party strength pages
editHi, why are you removing sticky headers on political party strength pages? The tables are generally too long to be able to see the header while scrolling unless sticky headers are enabled. WMSR (talk) 19:27, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @WMSR: Yeah, took me a second to realize what "sticky header" actually meant/did, I'm stupid, I'm in the process of undoing my undos. Apologies Nevermore27 (talk) 19:28, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think I fixed them all. Nevermore27 (talk) 19:31, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- No worries, and you're not stupid! Thanks! WMSR (talk) 19:48, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
