House of Romanov Page - Possible Vandalism/ Edit Warring

edit

Hello, I just realized that Just kidding me? (talk) keeps editing the House of Romanov page relying on original research and not using reliable sources. They seem to want to include the name of an alleged Romanov descendant unattested elsewhere, also I see that they keep deleting the edits of anyone who challenges their position. Would you be so kind as to assist in fixing this situation please? This page appears to be constantly vandalized by people who wish to support one disputed claimant to the head of the house over the other... Thank you. This particular editor is back adding irrelevant ancestry tables to articles. The majority of these articles don't even have reference(s) concerning the parentage of these individuals, which negates connecting them to these vast genealogies. --Kansas Bear (talk) 01:30, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Xiphophorus signum

edit

On 21 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Xiphophorus signum, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Xiphophorus signum is the only swordtail not known to hybridise with other species? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Xiphophorus signum. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Xiphophorus signum), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Hathumoda

edit

On 30 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hathumoda, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an attempt to portray Abbess Hathumoda as a Christian saint after her death failed because everyone knew that she could be quite petulant? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hathumoda. Missing source in Guy of Lusignan

edit

Hi, in this edit to Guy of Lusignan you introduced an sfn reference {{sfn|Bennett|2021|p=106}}. Unfortunately no work "Bennett 2021" is listed, so nobody can look the reference up, and the article is added to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. If you could supply the missing source it would be appreciated. DuncanHill (talk) 22:01, 6 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done! Thanks. Surtsicna (talk) 22:33, 6 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Article title

edit

Hi Surtsicna, hope you're doing well. With regard to this page, I really doubt a regular citizen such as hers could go without a surname. Heck we have surnames attached to the pages we have on figures such as Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. Do you think that she was simply using Hamilton as a surname or is her situation similar to that of Elizabeth Longford? Keivan.fTalk 21:10, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Keivan.f. I have no doubt that she had a surname throughout her life. I would just prefer not to speculate on what that surname was. All we know from reliable sources is that it was Robertson up until some point in her life. None of the sources cited in the article, and indeed none I can find online, mention Douglas-Hamilton as her surname at any point in her life. Besides, the policy is to use the most common name. "Jill Douglas-Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton" is used literally nowhere. Surtsicna (talk) 21:22, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not advocating for that title. If it's not used anywhere then it's not to be used here either. But it just seems unlikely that she was 'surnameless'. Which is why I asked to see if she was commonly known as "Jill Hamilton" (kinda like Elizabeth Longford); The Guardian has her listed as Jill Hamilton by the way. In any case, I'm sure you have done your research with this topic. Cheers. Keivan.fTalk 00:34, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
