It does not appear he was a notable candidate, nor was he convicted. Article was written soon after his death at a time he was facing charges. I feel like this needs wider conversation than PROD StarM 22:15, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. I found a trivial book mention here, but nothing that makes the subject pass WP:GNG. StAnselm (talk) 22:48, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:BLP1E and WP:SIGCOV. He was notable for his death, which got one sad news cycle. Bearian (talk) 19:40, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It's possible that he could get over our notability criteria as a trade unionist, but nothing here "inherently" clinches it in the absence of much better sourcing than this — on a ProQuest search I get a lot more glancing namechecks of his existence than I was expecting (specifically in the context of his unsuccessful run for political office, which isn't a notability-maker), but not a lot of notability-making coverage about him. To be fair, however, part of the problem is that in the database I have access to, the Newfoundland newspapers where he might have had the strongest and most WP:GNG-compatible coverage are included only post-2000, and only in abstract rather than full-text form — which means that if the article can be salvaged, I'm not the guy who can do it, and neither the substance nor the sourcing here are solid enough to extend him the benefit of the doubt in the meantime. So no prejudice against recreation in the future if somebody who can access Newfoundland newspapers better than I can is able to write and source something much better than this, but nothing stated or sourced here is enough to exempt him from having to show more. • Brief merge to the union that he founded leaving the usual redirect. His only notability is as having organised the union, so that adding a few sentences to Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union#History would so the job. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:55, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
