Etymology

edit

From Proto-Albanian *sākska, from Proto-Indo-European *sekʷ- (to see)[1] Compare English see, Greek έπομαι (épomai). Ultimately a doublet of shikoj via this root.

Aorist pashë may be from Proto-Indo-European *spéḱyeti (to look at) (compare English spy, Latin specere). However, Orel rejects this etymology and instead assigns it to Proto-Indo-European *peh₂-.[1]
