An electric food processor

A food processor is a kitchen appliance used to facilitate various repetitive tasks in the process of preparation of food. In modern times, it is usually equipped with an electric motor, although there are manual versions.

Typically, a food processor will have a vessel (called a bowl), with a removable lid to contain ingredients during processing operations. The lid has an integrated feeder tube to allow the introduction of unprocessed food during operation. At a minimum, a removable rotating blade that chops or purées (depending on the speed and duration of processing selected) the food is fitted within the bowl. Often food processors can accommodate other kinds of blades. For example, bladed discs for slicing, shredding, or grinding. Occasionally, food processors can be fitted with other devices that allow it to overlap completely in function with other kitchen appliances. For example, blender, whisk, beater, dough hook, or juicer attachments (such as with the processor pictured).
