* September, The Constituent Assembly had passed a bill in which made the [[Governor-General of Pakistan|Governor General]] subservient to the advice of the [[Prime Minister of Pakistan|Prime Minister]]. [[Mohammad Ali Bogra]] was again called to form a new government in which Commander-in-Chief of [[The Pakistan Army]], [[Ayub Khan|General Mohammad Ayub Khan]], became the Defense Minister. He was the first serving C-in-C to join the cabinet.
* Pakistan joins Baghdad Pact (later known as [[Central Treaty Organization]] (CENTO) after the withdrawal of [[Iraq]]) and [[Southeast Asia Treaty Organization]] (SEATO), a US-sponsored military alliance to contain communism.
