Shane Sheets (born June 10, 1987 in Litchfield, Minnesota) is a businessman, Mayor for the City of Green Isle, Minnesota, and former candidate for Minnesota House of Representatives in District 17B.[1][2] As of 2008, Sheets resides in Green Isle, Minnesota, with his family and works as the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office Director in Anoka County, Minnesota.[3]

Sheets earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Mary's University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sheets is also a 2015 Northwestern University certificate recipient for their Supervision of Police Personnel coursework and a 2017 graduate of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Supervision and Management series.[4] He has worked in various public safety and public service occupations, such as a public safety answering point supervisor, medicolegal death investigator, lead medicolegal death investigator, supervisor of investigations, and private investigator, before advancing his career in the medicolegal death investigation system to become the director of one of the largest medical examiners offices in the Midwest.[5][6][7] In his current capacity in the medical examiner system, Sheets also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners[8] and is a registered Diplomate for the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.[9] During Sheets' service at the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, he worked with Minnesota-based volunteers to be the first medical examiner's office in Minnesota to partner with and distribute Angel Dresses for infants and stillborn children that recently passed away. This program repurposes donated wedding gowns and prom dresses into fitted outfits for deceased infants and those of stillbirth. All the clothing is accessible to funeral homes and families at no cost so they can have their loved ones dressed for final photos or funeral services.[10]

In 2010, Sheets was elected to the Green Isle City Council, and again in 2019 where he chaired the planning & zoning commission and sat on the fire board and fire relief association. Following the resignation of Green Isle, Minnesota Mayor Joe Kreger in January 2023, Sheets was appointed as Mayor for the Green Isle for City Council.[11][12][13]

Sheets volunteers and retains active memberships in the following organizations:

International Association for Identification, the National Association of Medical Examiners, the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association, the High Technology Crime Investigation Association, and the American Radio Relay League after obtaining his FCC Technician License to operate HAM radio (Call Sign KF0JHJ).
