Surname

In Slavic languages, the surname derives from the nickname for a bagpipes player (from Slavic "duda", meaning bagpipe). In Czech, it is also the nickname for someone resembling a hoopoe ("dudek"); in Hungarian comes either from the old secular name "Duda" or from a shortened form of "Dudás".[1]
