Gothra is a village on the Rewari-Narnaul road (National Highway no. 11), 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Rewari in Rewari district in the Indian state of Haryana.[2] It is also known as Gothra Pali. This village is near the Village Pali, which is also on the Delhi Mumbai Freight Corridor Project which includes Gothra, that will be India's future trade corridor.[2]

Demographics

As of the 2011 India census, Gothra has a population of 2,606 in 549 households[3]. Males constitute 50.8% of the population, and females constitute 49.2%. Gothra has an average literacy rate of 68.6% (58.8% and 41.2% for males and females, respectively), less than the national average of 74%. In Gothra, 12.5% of the population is under 6 years of age. The main ethnic group of the village is Ahir and there are Harijan, Khati, Parjapat, Valmiki, Saini, and Naai living in a peaceful atmosphere. The village has a Shiv temple at its entrance, and also has a Jihad and temples such as Hanuman temple and Baba Manohar Dass.

Commerce

Adjacent to the village is a Kribhco container. At the bus stand of this village are many shops and Dhabas, namely Rao Dhaba, Chahat restaurant, Chaudhry dhaba, Paras Dhaba, Dehli wala Halwai, Vijay tent House, Marshal Photographer, a petrol pump and a Power House (Bijli Ghar) Subdivision.

The village has many temples, one of which is Sakti Mata temple, in the lap of the hill. People from the surrounding villages also have a religious belief in Sakti Mata. All the inhabitants from and within the village visit the Sakti Mata temple on saturdays.

People from this village work in many successful fields, including judicial, taxation, police, defense, para military, finance, and teaching. In the [1962 war], Captain Ram Kunwar of this village was awarded "Vir Chakra."

Educational establishments

Haryana's second Sainik School is situated in Gothra. The villagers and all of the Ahirwal demanded greatly for the Sainik School for a period of 30–40 years. At last, the Sainik School was finally inaugurated in 2008 by the former CM Bhupender Singh Hooda. This school is situated in the lap of the hill, and covers an area of 56 acres.

Transportation

There is a railway station which connects to Narnaul, Phulera, Rewari, and Delhi. The nearest villages are Nandha, Balwari, Nangla, Mamria, and Pali.
