Noted major article issues—that lead presents original unsourced material in violation of WP:INTRO and WP:VERIFY, and that the article continues with the WP:VERIFY issues. (We sampled four places in the article, the lead, two places in the text, and one figure legend, and all had dead or misused sources, and text misrepresenting the citations appearing. undo
  • curprev 23:2923:29, 17 October 2024 73.110.70.231 talk 73,847 bytes +2,133 Completed Britannica source and corrected text to it. Citation <ref name="CIATONGA"/> was redundant with the source <ref name = CIA_202410> and was misused in two places appearing, so was hidden from reader view. (That CIA source makes no statements whatsoever about ethnic groups composing the Sunni subpopulation in Iran.) Also, source of the 80-20 breakdown appearing earlier in pie chart was found in text, and tied to a dead link and a misused source. Check diff to see edits. undo
  • curprev 22:1222:12, 17 October 2024 73.110.70.231 talk 71,714 bytes +3 Major edit to correct image content to source already cited (completed). Last edit initiated bec. CIA.gov citation was so poorly presented one couldn't tell who was being cited at a glance (at Refs). On completing, checking that source, became clear that earlier presented 80-20 breakdown WAS NOT IN THAT SOURCE, and that source was dated. In last edit, orig. source was fully examined and reported, and the most recent comp. 2024 source was added. Here, 80-20 is revised to 92.5-7.5 as PER SOURCE. undo
  • curprev 22:0622:06, 17 October 2024 73.110.70.231 talk 71,711 bytes +2,389 Major edit to correct image content to source already cited. Original citation of CIA.gov World Factbook did NOT support earlier presented 80% Shia, 20% Sunni breakdown. Actual facts appearing (now quoted) are 90-95% Shia, 5-10% Sunni. Hence, this is ex. of POOR MATCHING OF DATA AND GRAPHIC, in particular, bec. pie markup disallows illustrating source-reported data error/range. Best can be done today: Made clear what original (and second updated) sources say. BL, need better data and graphic. undo
