Route 7 is a state highway with its northern terminus at U.S. Route 24 in northeast Independence and its southern terminus at Interstate 44 southeast of Richland (near the town of Laquey which it doesn't quite reach). The section between Harrisonville (at a junction with U.S. Route 71) and Clinton (at a junction with Route 13) provides an important link for traffic between Springfield and Kansas City.

Route description

The route first begins at U.S. 24 in Independence then heads south toward Harrisonville, Missouri and U.S. 71. Once at that point, the route heads southeast as a four lane highway toward Clinton, Missouri. At Clinton, the route intersects with Route 13 and Route 52 and becomes a two lane highway. The route crosses Harry S. Truman Reservoir and the Osage River and then into Warsaw, Missouri where it will overlap U.S. 65 for a few miles. Then it will head southeast several miles until it will overlap Route 5.Then it will cross Lake of the Ozarks and then into Camdenton, Missouri. Here, the route will intersect with U.S. 54 before separating from Route 5. The route will then head southeast into Richland, Missouri, intersecting with Route 133 and then to Interstate 44 where the route ends.
