Ukrainian Navy flag

[edit]

Can an administrator please change "Naval Ensign of Ukraine (dress).svg" into "File:Naval Ensign of Ukraine.svg" in this template (at the Flag variants chapter) so that the flag actually will occur instead of the current 22x20px please. — Mariah-Yulia • Talk to me! 00:17, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does not exitst
Does exist
I changed it, but it looks the same as the 1918 one. Is this what you needed? Crum375 (talk) 00:52, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! thank you! The 1918 one has a Trident on it, the new one doesn't! — Mariah-Yulia • Talk to me! 00:58, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, good. I missed the trident in that tiny size. Crum375 (talk) 01:06, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Broken flagicon Image

[edit]

The default Ukrainian flagicon hosted at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/49/Flag_of_Ukraine.svg/22px-Flag_of_Ukraine.svg.png seems to now be a broken image. Simianvector (talk) 23:05, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ukraine flag before 1992

[edit]
Flag of Ukraine from August 24, 1991 to January 28, 1992.

Can you add the first flag of the independent Ukraine to the Flag variants section? It seems to me the UkrSSR flag was used after Ukraine's independence. The blue-yellow flag was also not Ukraine's official flag until January 28, 1992.

Please remove this, this is ridiculous, few month from declaration with new year holidays. And blue-yellow flag was official national flag since the beginning of XX century. --PsichoPuzo (talk) 17:28, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. We're not going to bounce back and forth between two opinions. Brazil's 4 DAY flag got the same treatment. A 4 month flag deserves no less consideration. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ukraine seems the place to discuss it. • | var3 = (1991a)
  • [| var4 = 1991b]

Here are the legends:

  • [example] - add
  • (example) - change

Thank you.

LikeRealTimes I got you a message!📩 06:36, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we can change the name of 1991 to 1991a because it will break lots of existing uses. I have added 1991b to Template:Country data Ukraine/sandbox. Please check that this meets your requirements. Can you explain why there are two versions for 1991? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:52, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now No response @LikeRealTimes: Feel free to reopen once you have answered MSGJ's question. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:56, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ and Pppery: Actually reopening this one. The flag had a non-existent 1992—2006 variant, but it is actually missing the 1991—1992 which existed and was real. I have a mild preference for File:Flag of Ukraine (1991–1992).svg over File:Flag of Ukraine (Soviet shades).svg because it has a source, but I wouldn't mind the other one if @LikeRealTimes: or anyone has good arguments. I have updated the Template:Country data Ukraine/sandbox accordingly. Thanks — NickK (talk) 23:27, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Armed Forces of Ukraine

[edit]

The armed forces template should link to Armed Forces of Ukraine and not Ukrainian Armed Forces which is a redirect to the former. Can someone fix this? Charles Essie (talk) 12:37, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done: doesn't need to be fixed, because it's WP:NOTBROKEN. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 17:25, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please revert this change added in #Template-protected edit request on 24 October 2021, and default the 1992 variant to the standard File:Flag of Ukraine.svg.

There is no evidence that File:Flag of Ukraine (1992–2006).svg has ever existed (and I am going to nominate it for deletion), see c:File talk:Flag of Ukraine (1992–2006).svg. On one hand, there is no evidence there was a change in 2006 at all, sources rather state that existing colours were formally standardised in 2006. Moreover, the chosen shades File:Flag of Ukraine (1992–2006).svg were definitely never official, they were self-reverted by the uploader 5 minutes after the upload, so they were clearly a mistake and not anything official. Anecdotal evidence suggests that colours used in 1992–2006 were the same as File:Flag of Ukraine.svg (1992 stamp dedicated to the approval of the flag, 1999 official photo, 2001, 2002), meaning the variant 1992–2006 simply never existed.

As this mistake is getting spread both across English Wikipedia and also by other wikis copying templates from the English Wikipedia, the sooner this mistake is getting fixed the better — NickK (talk) 18:00, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If we revert that change then will any articles using the "1992" variant stop working? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:10, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: If we revert, 1992 will show the default flag (the current one) instead — NickK (talk) 15:40, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay fine then — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:06, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: Great, can you do it then please? Thanks — NickK (talk) 18:46, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
