Welcome!

Greetings, traveller. You've found the home of Valentinian.

Who am I? Well, my real name is Jesper Valentin and the user name Valentin was already taken by my brother :-) I'm a 31 year old Danish male living in Odense, the third largest city in Denmark. I made my first edit on the English Wikipedia on 3rd May 2005.

I study Contemporary History and English at the local university, the University of Southern Denmark (formerly known as Odense University.) In my spare time, I work at a major Danish furniture store.

What am I doing here? I'm one of those Wikipedians, who don't make a lot of publicity about themselves, but who're nonetheless pretty handy to have around - just to say so, myself. :) I write articles like everybody else, but you might also consider me a bit like a janitor (although I'm no administrator).

I'm an active member of WikiProject:Stub Sorting and an awful lot of my edits relate to stub sorting. Information should be as accessible as possible and in order to achieve this it needs a little bit of sorting and a little bit of order. I came across WP:WSS by chance but I stuck around. My articles primarily relate to Denmark (including politics, history and heraldry) but also a number of other topics. I've joined WikiProject:Military history after realizing how much of the relevant Danish material is either non-existent or very incomplete. I have also spent much time on WikiProject:Heraldry and vexillology and I run the Denmark Portal. Another long term project is an attempt to bring a bit of order to the already existing lists of Danish cabinet ministers, to add the missing lists, and to give each of these politicians a short (stub) article, and to give the Spoken Wikipedia a try.

I speak Danish, English and a fair amount of German (be warned: my German grammar is getting rusty). I understand a fair amount of Norwegian, some Swedish, and a little Dutch. Alas, I am unable to write the three latter languages.

If you don't agree with something I wrote, feel free to drop me a line. I make mistakes too, and all well-argued criticism is welcome. You may have access to other sources than me.

Subpages

To Do list

This list has grown, so I've moved it to a separate subpage.

If you notice that I've still not fulfilled a request you gave me long ago, this is merely a result of the fact that I currently have to focus all my time on writing my thesis. Several months of work still remains, but once that's done, I'll be very happy to look into these topics again. Regards. Valentinian T / C 23:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

How do you know that you live in a democracy? Well, if one political party has won power; then lost it again and given that power to another party; and this party in turn loses it and gives it back to the first party; and all this happened peacefully. That's when you know you live in a democracy.

Christian IV and Regensen

My source is København før og nu - og aldrig

Regensen, Collegium Regium, was build by Kommunitetet, an institution founded by Frederik 2. to support poor strudents.

„Christian 4. ydede ved den lejlighed et lån på 9.000 rdl, der i øvrigt blev tilbagebetalt få mpneder senere. Det er med andre ord stærkt overdrevet, når man har villet gøre Regensen til en af denne konges bedrifter. På indskriftstavlen fra 1623 står der da også kun at han inviede kollegiet.“

Så the wording of my comment is too strong. He was involved. But he did not build it.

The home page of Regensen claims that it was buildt on his initiative, but not that it was build by him.
