Deletion review for Marcel Richard
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Marcel Richard. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 16:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC) Deletion of Marcel Richard contested----Clive Sweeting

Thanks! I didn't say anything because I didn't want to mess with WP:CANVASS -- I only notified people I was fairly sure would oppose (and I guessed right on StevenBlack). I'll let you know if I have any questions. Did you notice the vote that accused me of BITing you? :-)--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- I hadn't until you mentioned it now. I see why an inside joke it can be construed as BITing that way. Ah. well... -- Alexf42 18:53, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Spelling
Hello, in regards to the Platypus article, as most of the article uses Australian spelling throughout, I changed one word to fit that form of spelling. Thankyou for your not so gracious welcome and accusations of not respecting other people's form spelling. --203.220.170.102 (talk) 15:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- It was not a "welcome" message and was not intended to offend. The idea behind the standard message about varieties of English is that we see many edits where the only purpose is to change from one spelling to another. It was just an information that neither one is right or wrong, just different and unnecessary. -- Alexf42 15:16, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding the "welcome" comment, I was being sarcastic — something I guess you don't get — but most users send a welcome message to anon users. Before issuing threats like that please at least read the article before being so gung-ho at accusing an anon user of doing the wrong thing, when in fact the anon maybe improving the legibility of the article. --203.220.170.102 (talk) 15:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- I understand the sarcasm. Again, it was not meant to offend, and if it did I apologize. As you saw, I only mentioned it to try to be instructive, but did not rollback the edit nor did any change to it, as both spellings are acceptable, just unneeded in my view. Not an important issue in any case. Happy wiking. -- Alexf42 15:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

No it's fine. I noticed and was going to leave this link with a little sarcastic comment. :) It happens a lot, trust me; I've overwritten and been overwritten many times. It comes with the territory. :D Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 00:06, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
American mafia article
I see you deleted the American Mafia article I created. I created this article by taking content from the Mafia article (where there is only a stub paragraph that made reference to American Mafia article; I then further elaborated the content of the new article.. Now that content is missing from WP and I do not think it should be lost since the contents represent historical fact. I don't know what the content was when you deleted it, but the article with its true content should be restored. Hmains (talk) 20:46, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- The article had been emptied and redirected to Italian-American Mafia. It has now been restored to the point before where it was emptied. -- Alexf42 23:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- thanks Hmains (talk) 23:58, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Everything has been reversed again today. What is going on here anyway? Is this being changed correctly (I know with no discussion)? Is content, history and discussion being lost by these possibly rule breaking changes? Hmains (talk) 20:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Don't know what you are talking about. I did not, do not, follow that article. I only look at those when they are tagged for CSD. Sometimes mistakes are made then reverted. -- Alexf42 21:28, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- I am not thinking/saying you did anything wrong. What I noticed is that the article was originally named American Mafia and then got changed to Italian-American Mafia. You made a correction to restore the article to its original content and then an editor simply copied the content back and forth between the two articles again (not using proper MOVE or 'requested moves') leaving the content in Italian-American Mafia, but the history in the American Mafia. If you are not the administrator to take care of such editor misbehavior and correct the problems created by making such changes without using the correct MOVE tools, who should I contact? Thanks Hmains (talk) 20:19, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have not the time now to look at it, as I gotta run. The best place is to report it to ANI. Thanks. -- Alexf42 20:26, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

please stop deleting my contributions at last! At least you could give me an-logical reason why you delete them! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnny-bollock-rotten (talk • contribs) 18:10, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- "Logical reason" has been explained in the edit summary. You do not seem to understand how Wikipedia works. First, do not keep adding the same link to a deleted page over and over. Second, when you finally cited a source, it did not have to do with the subject at hand. Last, when your edits are challenged, you are supposed to discuss them in the article's Talk page, not - re-enter them. Also, be aware of 3RR. -- Alexf42 18:31, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Jorge Luis Borges
My rationale for removing the section of the Borges article may not have been included in my edit summary, (which I admit, it should have) but it was explained on the talk page. If you look through previous posts you'll find that I'm not the first user to take issue with the section. The citation provided in that passage does not validate the claim. I am simply removing the section until a time when it can be properly sourced. I do, however, commend you on doing your part to prevent vandalism. S. Luke 11:16, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- I just saw your message on the talk page, so sorry for the redundancy. Removing the picture was an admittedly careless mistake, and I'll make sure to be more careful in the future.
- S. Luke 11:19, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Please note that we have to keep an eye for this article as it is currently the selected article of the month (July 2008) at Portal:Argentina. -- Alexf42 12:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello, I don't know what text was deleted at CarSoup but please consider restoring it. It is a prominent national auto classifieds service, widely advertised and certainly notable. Potatoswatter (talk) 23:28, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- The article read like pure advertisement and did not assert notability at all under WP:CORP. Please read about notability, quoting reliable sources and just in case it applies to you, WP:COI. Also, Please remember to sign your posts in Talk by adding four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf42 22:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Why Did you delete that about Nicholas Jarjour
Nicholas Jarjour is an incredible young hard working man that is pivital to the Canadian Music Industry , I know for a fact there is no reason his Experiences should not be posted , its all on the net so you have no right to deleat , thank you and please fix the problem (Youngnukk (talk) 07:39, 8 July 2008 (UTC))
- No assertion of notability under WP:BIO. No reliable sources posted. -- Alexf42 09:53, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Quinton catheter
I came across the deletion of Quinton Catheter (which you deleted) while checking broken redirects (here, quinton catheter). I think we should have an article on this, or at least a redirect to catheter and the text placed there. We have articles on catheters at Category:Catheters. I have also asked the patroller/CSD tagger. If there are no objections, I would like to undelete (and maybe merge). Is that OK? Carcharoth (talk) 11:53, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- There is also something about Quinton-Scribner shunt in Hemodialysis, which is probably something different. Would be best if a medical person could help out with the terminology. Carcharoth (talk) 15:54, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree the article might be important or a merge with another article on the subject may be best. As for undeleting, I see no point as this one short line is the whole context of the article at time of CSD tagging and subsequent deletion: "A triple lumen, external catheter used for hemodialysis". Use it as you see best. Hpapy wiking! - Alexf42 16:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Then that needs to be explained to User:Boback. As it is, their contributions need to be credited under the GFDL, so it will have to be undeleted if that text is going to be used. Have a look at their contribution history. They had one article where speedy deletion was requested (see Talk:Luther C. Tibbets). That article needs clean-up as well, but there should be more education of users, rather than the tagging and deletion that took place here and nearly took place then. Carcharoth (talk) 16:47, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Erek and Ivor Stub Notability
Hey Alex,
I'm new to creating articles and I was working on the Vanguard (Band) article last night and this Album Stub in conjunction. I understand that I have to assert the notability of the article or stub, and I was wanting clarification on a point.
If the Band's article is notable and sourced, does it follow that the Album stub is non-deletion worthy?
Even if not, I will reference the Album Stub to include a sourced tracklist, or whatever needs be.
Thanks Alex, and if I could get a copy of the article, that would be awesome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VanguardMetal (talk • contribs) 18:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Deleted John Wort Hannam article.
I had barely started the article and was working to expand it when it was deleted. Can I have it back for a period of a week so I can finish it, prior to it being removed for not being "notable"?
Ooblik (talk) 18:55, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- The article was basically empty. It only contained one line as follows: "John Wort Hannam is a Canadian Folk musician from Ft. McLeod, Alberta." and then it mentioned his website (sounding like an ad). I would suggest you write it off-line, or in a subpage of your userpage, assert notability, read and comply with WP:MUSIC, then try again. -- Alexf42 19:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Will you look at this
I may be jumping the gun here, but this IP has been blocked twice in the past few months. All of its edits are blatant vandalism, appears to be the same user behind the IP. same type of edits i.e. page blanking and adding nonsense. I'm a pretty new editor, sorry if I just wasted your time with this. Cheers, Landon1980 (talk) 14:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- OK. I see new vandalism posted today, reverted by ClueBot and user duly warned. Still it needs more recent warnings, at least a level 3 or level 4 (one saying they will be blocked) before a block can be put in place. Keep monitoring them and if they continue, report them to AIV following the instructions there. This will attract the attention of an admin on duty. Thanks. -- Alexf42 14:10, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- OK thanks, I sort of thought that but wanted to make sure. Sorry for wasting your time. Landon1980 (talk) 14:12, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's not a waste of time. That's what we are here for. Cheers! -- Alexf42 14:20, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Tastes like chicken
I apologize - it was never my intent to post anything opinionated or non-factual to Wikipedia. The sources, for which I provided references, seemed to agree with the general folk opinion that alligator tastes like chicken. I certainly never meant to post nonsense. I have spent a lot of time on this, actually, and I really do believe this information is worthy of Wikipedia. I would be very grateful if you could teach me to present it in the proper way! Owlgorithm (talk) 21:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I did not mean to offend, if I did I do apologize. The subject itself seems to me to be POV as I have stated in the Categories for discussion log. I don't think it is worthy of a category, as I said there. I also do not think it is worthy of inclusion in articles as it is subjective, but that will have to be discussed in each article's talk page. Cheers! -- Alexf42 21:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I am not easily offended, but I do hate to mess up. On that note, I would like to ask you for help. I have just received a vandalism notice on my UserTalk page, despite the edit having been referenced correctly from a source that was already used in that page! Because I have made a large number of edits on different pages on this topic, I am afraid I am going to get blocked. What should I do? How can I fix this? I have only the best intentions, I swear to you! Owlgorithm (talk) 21:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Your edit to Fried spider for which you have been warned does not seem like vandalism to me. It is more like POV and probably revertable but not catalogued as vandalism. The editor is wrong on this one. I have asked him to reconsider. In any case, you will not get blocked for one reversion. Users get blocked for a steady pattern of vandalism, to protect the Project. Showing AGF is never bad. -- Alexf42 22:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! The next edits I make will be undoubtedly to remove POV from the articles I have introduced it into. I have learned a valuable lesson today, and I am deeply grateful for your prompt response. I'd say "I owe you," but I think I'll pay the debt to the project itself :-) Owlgorithm (talk) 22:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Hany
You have deleted 'Hany' from Wiki, I would like to know why was it removed.
The reason of the insertion is to have an overview of the name 'Hany' and where did it come from. If you check 'Ahmed', 'Abdullah' pr even 'John', you would notice that it states the word being a name/surname. The name was added due to the lack of information when using search engines, unless you are a multi-lingual person, you will not be able to find the origin of the word. Therefore, I have decided to add this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Radihh (talk • contribs) 22:09, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- It was deleted for A3. It was a very short article and did not show a stub tag. It was tagged for CSD as {{db-nocontext}}. -- Alexf42 02:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Necrosis (band)
You deleted the article of this band, but I like that you block the page so that only administrators can edit it again, because I fear that the user who created the article "back to again...". Na próxima mensagem posso escrever em português? Regards, Cannibaloki 00:23, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- I deleted because notability was not asserted under WP:BAND. The rules are clear on that point. I did not protect the article for only admins. Yes you can write in Portuguese if you prefer (in Talk pages) although English is preferred so everybody can understand here. -- Alexf42 02:06, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- Tudo bem, sem problemas! Sorry for the delay to reply, but I did not know you had responded here. Cannibaloki 18:12, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi mate,
Perhaps you could look into this for me. It seems the same guy keeps adding false statistics to the article using numerous IP's. Scocco's stats are clearly shown in the external links, such as this one. The Argentina game against Guatemala was an Argentina A friendly and is not officially recognised by AFA or FIFA. I am getting tired of reverting the same false information nearly every day, perhaps you could semi-protect the article for a while. Cheers EP 22:22, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. For some reason he wasn't in my watch list (probably because I'm not familiar with Greece's league I didn't know about him). Done. -- Alexf42 01:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

hi,
you deleted the page on current mayor of islamabad under the name kamram lashari.
shame. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joshua.rehmann (talk • contribs) 01:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I delete lots of pages a day as part of my admin duties. I have to go quite a ways to check. It was way back over a month and a half ago. The article was totally without references nor assertion of notability under WP:BIO. You were informed by the CSD poster on May 19th. The article was finally deleted as A7 on June 5, that is 16 days after you were notified. If you think a person is notable and you can provide reliable sources to the effect, you are supposed to place a {{hangon}} tag and immediately explain your reasons and assert notability. I don't make the rules. You say it is a shame. Actually it is how Wikipedia works. Sorry. Also please follow the rules for Talk pages; create a new section and always sign your posts by placing four tildes (~~~~) at the end. -- Alexf42 01:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Ante up
Any special reason why you deleted this article? There are hundreds of song articles created on Wikipedia. Red-Eye Baldarek (talk) 12:48, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sure. It was a one-liner article (literally: "Ante up is a rap, created by M.O.P. Another Ante up remix is made by Busta Rhymes and M.O.P."). As explained to you by the tagging editor, the text is incoherent and makes no sense by itself. We need encyclopedic material. It might help you understand how an article should be structured and what is needed if you read these pages. Happy wiking! -- Alexf42 13:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Deletion review for Made in Brazil (e-sports)
I'm asking for a review of the deletion because it's a e-sports organization as important as fnatic or SK. If you deleted my article, you should delete the fnatic and SK ones too. Peace. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedro Henrique Nunes Jorge (talk • contribs) 17:16, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Olá Pedro. If you are asking for a formal Deletion review then go here. If you are asking why was your article deleted, it was under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion as it was explained to you by the tag editor here. I just took a quick look at fnatic as you suggested, and the site seems to be referenced as per requirements. Please understand that "similar sites exist" is not a defense for your article. Also please remember to sign your posts in Talk with four tildes (~~~~).
Ooh sorry, I really forgot to sign. Yeah, the fnatic article was referenced, but I didn't complete my article. I was going to complete it on the following day. I hope you understand.Pedro Henrique Nunes Jorge (talk) 22:46, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Pedro (this time I didn't forgot :D)

Bruno from ibiza
This is the second time my article on Bruno from ibiza has been deleted because beliefs that he lacks any musical significance. Can anyone please explain why Bruno is not significant when the DJ he replaced, Jose Padilla, and the famous bar both DJs play at, Cafe del Mar, are significant enough to have undeleted wiki pages. If Jose Padilla compiled 6 of the famous Cafe del Mar albums and he makes it to Wiki (www.cafedelmarmusic.com), why isn't his sucessor who also compiled just as many albums worthy of wiki? Perhaps my grammer isn't up to wiki snuff, but that is not the reason given for deletion. We are not talking about some highschool garage dj. We are talking about the dj who did about 10 Cafe del Mar albums, per wiki- 9.5 million sold worldwide. Please advise. 207.153.112.190 (talk) 20:53, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- I do not know "Bruno from Ibiza" or "Jose Padilla" or "Cafe Del Mar" as they are out of my area of expertise. They may well be very notable as you say. The reason why they were deleted, was A7 "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant". The article had no secondary sources or references or cites of any kind and as posted in the deletion log it did not comply nor asserted notability under WP:MUSIC. Please read the linked pages so you'll understand what's expected of you when creating WP articles. -- Alexf42 21:36, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Block User
Could you block this IP Special:Contributions/217.116.239.2? It appears it's being used only for vandalism and i see you've reverted their edits more than once too. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 15:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Done. He deserved it, but please, block requests should be done at AIV which will get you much faster response from the admin(s) on duty at the time. Thanks. -- Alexf42 16:06, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Cheers for the tip too. I wasn't aware of AIV because generally I tend to avoid vandals because it results in pointless stress over something in internet-land. Sorry for the bother! Sillyfolkboy (talk) 16:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Could you explain me why you speedy deleted the article? There is an AfD about the article (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Irislene Stefanelli). I believe you should finish the AfD first or at least explain why you did that. The article was recreated by an user and I don't know if it should be speedy deleted again. And the AfD has not been finished yet.Tosqueira (talk) 00:24, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- My mistake. I was doing CSD and saw the article did not have assertion of notability. Somehow missed the AfD references and did not know about it. Desculpas Tosqueira. -- Alexf42 00:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I see you deleted this as a copyvio. The source has a disclaimer saying it releases content under the GNU. I had made a note about that when I redid the sources. Did I miss something. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 13:18, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Not sure. I am not comfortable with verbatim copying of text into WP. Just because they release under GNU, can we blatantly copy? Not sure IMO, but then I'm not an expert in copyvio issues. I'm not going to make a fuss about it, else this would not be the place to discuss, but in WP:CP. -- Alexf42 13:34, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh hey
I have nothing to say, I'm just having a good day and wanted to wish you a good day too. :-) --Kizor 15:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Dog World Magazine COI
You said there is a conflict of interest for me to edit the Dog World page. I am in fact the editor of Dog World magazine. The historical information on the Dog World page is wrong. I am only trying to correct the misinformaion (i.e., the date the magazine was first published [Jan. of 1916, not Jan. 1915], who owned the magazine during certain years and removing the strange statement that says Dog World is going to honor those who devoted their lives to Dog World...). I am not going to editorialize or elaborate in any way other than to state the correct historical facts. Thank you.DogWorldEditor (talk) 16:10, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
What?
Im not sure what you mean when you said not to communicate with people. I only ever talk about the topic on Discussion pages.--Super Badnik (talk) 18:22, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your assistance
Dearest Alexf,
Thankyou for the instruction.
Just one question though; have you written a newbie page - Wiki is quite a great deal to Master.

RE: Friend list
Why is there a freinds list on your page? We are an encyclopedia, NOT myspace. Chafford (talk) 16:26, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
He can have anything he wants (as long as it's not offensive) on his thing. It's not up to you what goes on userpages. so just be quiet. Sonic&Mario Fan 12:55, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

- I believe you mean first, and last warning, eh? Last I checed we were allowed to talk on user talk pages, if you refuse to allow that, then you'll have to block us all. Go ahead. I dare you. Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 19:25, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
