Please do not upload images in the GIF format

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before uploading (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which allows them to load faster. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. —Remember the dot (t) 04:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

Unspecified source/license for Image:Zelenci Nature Preserve.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Zelenci Nature Preserve.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 00:54, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Senix, Nice to see someone else adding info to a few of the articles I have been slowly adding to over the past few months and some of the information you have imputed is very interesting. I have noticed though that you often don't give any references for the information. Especially with such local information it is difficult for anyone else to find reliable references, so it is easier if they are added by the person writing or adding to any article in the first place. When I myself started adding stuff to Wikipedia, I also tended to be a little short on references, but came to realise that it is very important to include them as often as possible if we want Wikipedia to be a useful and reliable source of information, even for very local information and even if they refer to sources available only locally and/or in a foreign language. Keep up the good work, best regards Kaktus999 (talk) 07:22, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Always the Black Knight, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Always the Black Knight. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Deor (talk) 01:46, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to join WikiProject Intertranswiki and join Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Slovenian. It is intended to be a joint group between Intertranswiki and WikiProject Slovenia of which you are already a part of The aim is to draw up a directory of missing articles from Slovenian wikipedia, extract what is notable or suitable, and build a team of translators to work at bridging the gaps in knowledge between other wikipedias. Even if you can't contribute much in starting content, your help is much needed to help draw up detailed lists of missing articles for Slovenia in the new project space and help other editors work through lists to build content more fully. Hi. Are you the photographer of File:Angels, Maribor.jpg? If so, can you update the source to say "own work" or words to that effect and fix the permission tag to be {{CC-BY-SA-2.5}} or another valid tag? If you are not the author, please see WP:COPYREQ for instructions about forwarding a statement of permission to the Wikimedia Foundation. Thank you. --B (talk) 12:19, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto for File:Angels plaque, Maribor.jpg --B (talk) 12:27, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not the photographer, but the photos are from the SL WP [1], where they are under what I think is a compatible license? Senix (talk) 12:56, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Senix! I'd ask you to list all newly created articles at Portal:Slovenia/New article announcements (shortcut P:SLO/A) so they can be monitored from one place. Also note that the Geopedia is now available also in English so it's better to link to the English version- see an example at Log pod Mangartom. Thanks and keep up good work! --Eleassar my talk 17:25, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Angels,_Maribor.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Angels,_Maribor.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 16:30, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Krumperk Castle, Domžale.jpg

File:Krumperk Castle, Domžale.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Grad Krumperk.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Grad Krumperk.JPG]]. WikiProject Slovenia

Hi Senix! Thanks for adding the template {{WikiProject Slovenia}} to the talk pages of the articles. It would be great if you also used the parameters 'class' and 'importance' (for an example, see Talk:Milan Vidmar). That way we create a grid of Slovenia-related articles sorted by importance and quality (have a look at the infobox at WP:SLO). Cheers, --Eleassar my talk 10:07, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I made the redirect without a discussion per WP:Bold as it was a uncontroversial redirect, and while I have no problem with your disagreeing about it, I see no reason to keep the article for several reasons. Firstly, it's not notable in it's own right, with no reliable sources discussing the city except to state thats where the series takes place. Secondly,it's full of Original research, and thirdly it's way too detailed an article for the topic range. While this was my reasoning for redirecting, my reason for nomiating for deletion was the lack of notability coupled with the unlikeliness of achieving a proper discussion on the article talk page due to the small amount of edits since the article was created many years ago. You can state your case and opinion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Paradigm_City, however please stick to discussing the article and any potential solutions to addressing the concerns. Thanks. Fair use rationale for File:Resolute Bay Nunavut Canada.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Resolute Bay Nunavut Canada.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. As far as I can remember Pristava was the estate of Karel Zois rather than Žiga Zois, his brother. It was also Karel Zois who was the botanist. Needs some verification and sources, but Slovene wikipedia does have an article on the man. Something to look into perhaps. Regards Kaktus999 (talk) 07:24, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nuts, I meant to verify that. Karel sounds more correct, but I can find no definitive proof as to which brother it was, so I just left it at "Baron Zois." Thanks!

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pivka Park of Military History moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Pivka Park of Military History, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Sam Hall

I understand and appreciate what you were trying to do with that extended synopsis, but that's really, really, really excessive. The amount of detail in the synopsis should be roughly proportional to the amount of coverage that the story has received.

There is also no need to do a complete recap of everything that happened. Don't try to obviate the actual process of reading the story!

And be very, very careful to not ever include original research. "appears to indirectly control the rest of world, although little of it is mentioned; the Anglosphere nations appear to be an exception" - these are your conclusions. DS (talk) 05:19, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

1. OK, I will edit it down.
2. This is one of Anderson's better-known stories. It has been anthologized a lot, and a good deal has been written about it.
3. The amount of detail given in a synopsis is a matter of taste.
4. If you are going to caution someone against doing original research, you might want to read the story yourself to make sure of it. I paraphrased "we had to mount guard on the whole human race" as "indirectly control the world." the newspaper headline "CANADA, BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA REFUSE ASSISTANCE TO GOVT" sounds like exercising a measure of autonomy to me. If 'a good deal has been written about it', fine. Cite it. I couldn't find terribly much myself, although the award nominations are enough to show notability. DS (talk) 15:10, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Silent invaders

I've read Silverbob. I've met Silverbob. "Having been written by Silverbob" is not a criterion of notability. Include coverage. Reception, reviews. The fact that the book physically exists is not enough. DS (talk) 15:16, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I included several reviews. BTW, if are going to be vandalizing new content, you might as well be courteous enough to remove the relevant link from Silverberg's bibliography page. Senix (talk) 05:01, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You cited no reviews. You included one external link to some random person's blog with their thoughts about the novel. And don't call content disputes "vandalism". Vandalism is when there's no possible way to interpret the edit as having been done in good faith. DS (talk) 18:28, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hansel & Gretel (manga) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Hansel & Gretel (manga), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. noq (talk) 09:47, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see I have erred in assuming that this outcome could be avoided by providing five citations, where the article for Otomo's preceding anthology Highway Star is apparently doing fine with a grand total of one. NP, I'll go hunt down a few more.

Incorrect use of a flag

Hello! Recently while browsing Wikipedia I noticed the incorrect use and naming of a flag uploaded by you to Wikimedia. The flag you have labelled as the flag of Kapingamarangi is actually the flag of Pingelap, another yet separate Polynesian-speaking island administratively part of Pohnpei, Micronesia. In fact, the description listed on the file over on commons even states this. Simple, easy mistake to make, but a mistake nonetheless. I've done you the bulk of the labor and fixed all incorrect uses of the flag on Wikipedia itself, but can't edit the name of the Wikimedia file, which still incorrectly calls it the flag of Kapingamarangi, so this is where I politely ask you to move the file to a correct name to clear up any remaining confusion. Cheers, and thank you. Pladica (talk) 02:55, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
