Yialousa (Template:Lang-el Template:Lang-tr), alternative Latinization : Yalusa), is a town in Cyprus. The population of the town is 1640 as of 2006.[1]
In 1960, the population of the town was 2538 with only one Turkish Cypriot inhabitant, the rest being Greek Cypriots. When the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot forces reached the town in August 1974, the Greek inhabitants did not flee. They left the village gradually because of restrictions of freedom of movement and education, and reunification with the family member who were taken as prisoners and ended up in the southern portion of the island after they were returned. In 1976, the displaced Turkish Cypriots from Erenköy were resettled in the village and it was renamed as "Yeni Erenköy" (meaning "New Erenköy").[2]
