Carolina Cavalli is an Italian film director and screenwriter. She is best known as screenwriter and director of Amanda (2022)[2][3] and as screenwriter of Fremont (2023).[4]

In 2017, she was the recipient of the San Francisco Film Society Kenneth Rainin Foundation Filmmaking Grants. In 2018, Cavalli won the Italian screenwriting award Premio Solinas for TV writing.[6]
Her debut feature Amanda premiered at the Venice Film Festival and internationally at the Toronto International Film Festival.[7][8] The film was one of the few Italian debut features ever distributed internationally.[9]
Amanda received 3 nominations for the Italian David di Donatello for the Best Directorial Debut, Best Leading Actress, and Best Supporting Actress categories.[10][11] And nominated for 2 Nastri d’Argento, in the best directorial debut and best leading actress categories.
Cavalli co-wrote the film Fremont along with the Iranian film director and producer, Babak Jalali.[12] Fremont premiered in January 2023 at the Sundance Film Festival,[13] and screened later in March at the SXSW Film Festival.[14][15] It has been selected in Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Competition for its International premiere.[16]
As a writer of Fremont, Cavalli was nominated for Best International Feature Film at the British Independent Film Awards in 2024. In the same year she won the John Cassavetes Awards at the Independent Spirit Awards. in August 2024, principal photography began on her feature film The Kidnapping of Arabella, featuring American actor Chris Pine.[17]
