Sochi

Sochi, is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the eastern Black Sea coastline. Sochi has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa), with cool to mild winters and warm summers. Sochi is humid throughout the entire year, most especially during winters, which are very damp. Summers are also humid but sunny as well, although no month has less than 10 rainy days. Sochi is very warm for Russian standards.[1]

The territory of Sochi contains many microclimates, the daytime temperatures can vary as much as 10 °C between coastal areas in Adler and Lazarevsky compared with Krasnaya Polyana.

Temperature

Its average annual temperature is 14.6 °C (58.3 °F), 18.4 °C (65.1 °F) during the day and 11.1 °C (52.0 °F) at night. In the coldest month – January, the temperature typically ranges from 5 to 15 °C (41 to 59 °F) during the day and −2 to 6 °C (28 to 43 °F) at night. In the warmest month – August, the typical temperature ranges from 26 to 32 °C (79 to 90 °F) during the day and about 21 °C (70 °F) at night. Large fluctuations in temperature are rare. The hottest temperature recorded in Sochi was 38.4 °C (101.1 °F) on July 30, 2000. The lowest temperature was −13.4 °C (7.9 °F) on January 25, 1892 and the lowest since 2001 was −7.3 °C (18.9 °F) on January 4, 2016.[citation needed]

Winters in Sochi are cool to mild. January and February are the coldest months, with average temperatures around 10 °C (50 °F) during the day and 3 °C (37 °F) at night. Snow and frosts are not uncommon from December to March.

Summer in Sochi

Generally the summer season lasts about six months, from May to October. July and August are the warmest months, with average temperatures around 27–29 °C (81–84 °F) during the day and 27–21 °C (81–70 °F) at night. In June and September the average temperature is around 25 °C (77 °F) during the day and 16 °C (61 °F) at night, and in May and October the average temperature is around 20 °C (68 °F) during the day and 12 °C (54 °F) at night.
