TOTAH is an art gallery located in New York City's Lower East Side neighborhood. It was founded in 2016 by David Totah[1], and specializes in contemporary art. TOTAH shows established artists like Mel Bochner[2] and Kenny Scharf[3], in addition to David Austen[4], Mara De Luca[5], TR Ericsson[6], Aleksandar Duravcevic[7], Melissa McGill[8], Lun*na Menoh, Luca Pancrazzi[9] and Alex Sewell.[10] It also represents the estate of Lauretta Vinciarelli[11], and the estate of Wallace Berman[12] (with Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles). TOTAH publishes catalogues and monographs that accompany their exhibitions. The space, a former liquor store, was redesigned by architect Rafaella Bortoluzzi.[13] The exterior gates feature a mural by pop surreal artist Kenny Scharf.[13]
Background
[edit]David Totah is the nephew of Edward Totah[14], who founded and ran Edward Totah Gallery in London from 1979 through 1995 (the year of his passing). Both Edward Totah and David Totah worked with Kenny Scharf. Edward Totah's archives are held by the Tate Gallery Archives in Britain.[15]

[edit]Contributors to TOTAH publications have included Anne Waldman, Archie Rand, Barry Schwabsky, Saul Ostrow and John Yau.
TOTAH's publication Wallace Berman: Off the Grid was acquired for global distribution by American publishing company D.A.P. in 2024.
