Wood and Sandalwood Carving

[edit]

The Jangid community has been instrumental in transforming sandalwood carving into a highly regarded art form, recognized both in India and abroad. Distinguished for their intricate craftsmanship, several artisans from this group have earned prestigious national awards for their exceptional work.[8] While safeguarding age-old techniques, these artists also introduce innovative elements, expanding the boundaries of their craft. Their skill goes beyond technical proficiency, reflecting a nuanced understanding of design principles and cultural heritage. By balancing tradition with modern creativity, the Jangid artisans not only keep their art alive but also maintain its significance in today’s artistic landscape.[9]
