Katie Jane Lotte Lam is a British Conservative politician who has been Member of Parliament for Weald of Kent since 2024.[1] She is also a lyricist and scriptwriter.
Biography and political career
[edit]Lam was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she read classics. While at Cambridge she was elected president of the Cambridge Union and chairman of the Cambridge University Conservative Association.[2] She began working in finance, spending the bulk of her career at Goldman Sachs, where she was a vice president. She then became a special adviser, working for Suella Braverman and Boris Johnson.[3] She has also worked for PR company Portland Communications as Chief Policy Adviser, and Chief of Staff at AI company Faculty. Lam is a governor at the Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children in King's Cross, and a former trustee at the Ivors Academy Trust, the charitable arm of professional songwriters' association The Ivors Academy.[4]
Musical career
[edit]In collaboration with Alex Parker, Lam has co-written five musicals, including an adaptation of The Railway Children.[5]
