Maurice P. Terry Sr. (June 29, 1946 – December 10, 2015)[1] was an American journalist associated with researching the Son of Sam killings.
Early career
[edit]A graduate at Iona College, he worked as an in-house editor at IBM after his reports on the MLK assassination.[2]
The Ultimate Evil
[edit]He is known for writing the 1987 book The Ultimate Evil, which posited that the Son of Sam murders involved a satanic cult of serial killers rather than only David Berkowitz.[3][4] The Ultimate Evil is now acknowledged universally as a book of fiction. It turns out Maury Terry was using comic book art from Conan The Barbarian #38 and passing it off as "cult members."
Legacy
[edit]He, his preserved archives, audio tapes, and his book were used as the basis for the Netflix documentary series The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness.[5][6][7] He also is well known for his wigs, drunkenness and chain smoking as well as re-victimizing the victims of the lone Son of Sam killer David Berkowitz.
