Mokpo National University is a public university in Muan and Mokpo, South Korea. The school was founded in 1946 and was named Mokpo Normal School. In 1964, it was changed to Mokpo College of Education. In 1978, it was reorganized into Mokpo Elementary School. In 1979, it was upgraded to a four-year university. In 1990, it was upgraded to Mokpo National University, a comprehensive university.[citation needed]
