Pancho Campo

Pancho Campo (born September 13 in Santiago, Chile) is a naturalized Spanish businessman and former professional tennis player. After his retirement from tennis, he founded Chrand Events USA, an agency dedicated to the organization of sporting events, conferences and expeditions. In addition, Campo has been involved in activities related to raising awareness of the climate crisis and the mental health of new generations.

Career

Chrand Events USA

After his career in tennis, Pancho Campo established Chrand Events USA, which has been dedicated to organizing international events in more than 20 countries. The agency has collaborated with various personalities, including former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, former U.S. President Barack Obama, former Vice President Al Gore, and artists such as Sting and Pink Floyd.

Adventurer

Campo is an adventurer who practices various sports, including scuba diving, skydiving and glacier climbing. He has produced documentaries exploring topics such as fear and anxiety management. He is a PADI certified scuba instructor and has conducted technical dives to depths of 50 meters. He also holds a USPA C skydiving license and was the first civilian Spaniard to perform a HALO jump from 25,000 feet to raise awareness about bullying.

Climate Change

Pancho Campo has been an active advocate in climate change research, particularly in the wine industry. He founded the first global conference on climate change and wine in Barcelona in 2006 and has organized numerous summits on the climate crisis, where relevant figures such as Barack Obama and Al Gore have participated. He has made expeditions to places such as Greenland and the Arctic to study the impact of climate change and shares his findings through international conferences.

The Planet Future Foundation

Campo founded The Planet Future Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the well-being of future generations. The foundation focuses on addressing mental health issues in young people, which are increasingly prevalent today.

Tennis Professional

Prior to his business career, Campo was a prominent tennis coach, managing ATP players and captaining the Chilean women's team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He was also director of the Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Spain and National Tennis Director of the Qatar Tennis Federation.

Master of Wine & Wine Future

In 2005, Campo founded The Wine Academy of Spain and in 2008 became the first Spanish-speaking Master of Wine. However, in 2011, he faced an investigation by the Institute of Masters of Wine related to his collaboration with wine critic Robert Parker. Although exonerated, he resigned from the institute in 2012. In 2009, he initiated the Wine Futureinternational congress, which has attracted prominent wine industry names and international leaders to discuss the economic crisis and its effects on the wine industry.

Interpol

In 2009, Campo was found to be under an Interpol red notice issued by the United Arab Emirates in 2005 for an “in absentia” conviction. An Interpol report in 2018 concluded that Campo had not been properly notified about the case and that the conviction did not warrant a red notice.

Kidnapping in South Africa

On October 12, 2019, Campo was kidnapped in South Africa by two men posing as Uber drivers. After being assaulted and stripped of his belongings, he managed to find police help.
