History

[edit]

After the 2006 National Census, Gavkan, Gonbaki, and Rigan Rural Districts, and the city of Mohammadabad, were separated from Bam County in the establishment of Rigan County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Mohammadabad as its capital and only city at the time.[3]

In 2023, Gonbaki District was separated from the county in the establishment of Gonbaki County. At the same time, Posht-e Rig Rural District was established in the Central District, and Gavkan Rural District was separated from it in the formation of Rahmatabad District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Sadabad Rural District.[5]
