Singer is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, United States.[2] Its population was 303 as of the 2020 census. Its ZIP code is 70660.[3]

Education

Singer High School is a K-12 school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students. Singer Hornets Athletics include Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, Cross Country, and Fishing. Singer competes in the Class C and B divisions of the LHSAA.

Singer Athletics

The 2017-18 Singer Hornets boys' basketball State Final Four team had a 29-6 overall record and were undefeated district champions. Led by the Sandifer brother duo, Cameron (26.8 PPG) and Gavon (12.0 PPG), along with starters Dawson Inboden, Andrew O'Connor, and Josh Wood. Head Coach Cary Collins won District and SWLA coach of the year honors.

Judy Clark, class of 1996, The Louisiana Miss Basketball as a senior, Clark averaged 35.5 points per game as a junior and 46.7 as a senior. She played at Northwestern State where she scored 1,616 points and was the Southland Conference Player of the Year in 1999 and was eventually inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. She Scored 4,422 points in her playing career at Singer which is 22nd on the all-time national list.

Cameron Sandifer, class of 2018, is the Singer boys' basketball all-time leading scorer with 2,330 career points along with over 340 career made three-pointers. He also has the boys' single game scoring record with 55 points in a game vs Ebarb. He was awarded All-State, All-SWLA, All-Parish, Parish Winter MVP, and District MVP honors his senior season after averaging 26.8 PPG (937 Total Points).

Tate Hess, class of 2023, was a former All-State Singer Hornets baseball player and was also a member of the boys' basketball team. Tate was ranked the #36 player in Louisiana for the class of 2023. He currently plays baseball for ULL Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette, LA.

Aidan Sandifer, class of 2024, who led the 2023-2024 boys' basketball team that went 24-11 and were undefeated district champions. Aidan is the only boys' basketball player from Singer to be awarded LHSAA All-Star honors. He was also awarded All-State, All-SWLA, District MVP, and was GeauxPreps Player of the week in February 2024.

Other notable teams from Singer include the 1970 and 1973 boys' basketball state final four teams as well as the 1996 girls' basketball Sweet 16 team.

Tiger Island Wildfire

Singer is also known for the Tiger Island Wildire which burned approximately 33,000 acres in August and September of 2023. Containment of the fire was extremely difficult due to a drought and slow response of local and state government.
